My New Ride!!!

Ok, I'm like a kid on XMAS day. Have the 17k TTA which I always wanted. Last night I picked up the other car I wanted back when - 88 Formula 350 with 20k original. They're stacked one above the other in the garage and I keep going out there to look!!

I've got about 40 hours of maintenance and clean up activities planned for it this weekend - Going to plan on getting the hawk's fiberglass wing - the original is shot.

If anyone wants the chrome IROC wheels, let me know - they've got 500 (yes 500) miles on them.

I also need a good contact for refinishing the clear coat on the stock wheels.

Will be buying stock exhaust manifolds at some point - it's got headers on it!!

Looks good. Get a pic of them stacked. That would be a neat pic.

I thought I had a pic of them stacked but I don't. Here they are side by side. I can't really work on them stacked so I keep them like this. The formula is in the middle of a full service, new wing and detailing.

Funny, showed the TTA today and half the folks who see it don't know what it is or swear it was never made. Half my neighbors think these two are one car!!

It gets worse - I drive a white Explorer.

I do like white cars unlike most folks but this kind of happened by accident. Bought the bike 6 years ago back when you had to wait a year if you didn't want to pay a grand over MSRP. I took the first color that came in and then did some flames - but grew to like white.

And the TTA....well, you know...

When I finally found a low mile Formula 350, it happened to be white.

How high is the ceiling in your garage? I've been trying to decide if I want to put a lift in my garage, as I only have a 9-ft. celing.

About 11'6" but the ceiling won't necessarily be your determinating factor.

The lift is like just under 9' - it's really just a function of the stacked height of what you're putting in. 80's f-bodies are 50" so two stack fine. The height limiter on mine is the garage door when open, which (despite using a side mount opener) drops my clearance by almost 6". I can get about 65" under the car of work area - walk under with my head down and work with a slight bend. - easy work on a rolling stool.

Add about 5-6" for the height of the ramps that the car will sit on. Other tips:

Pay extra for a zap or other high end door opener and design your header/get a good installer to get your tracks as close to the ceiling as possible.

Pay for the best opener you can get - I looked at them all and the quality/design differences are scary. I got a Backyard Buddy which cost me maybe 1-1.5k more but a) it went together perfectly; b) it's solid as a rock; and c) it came with lots of extras for that price (ramps, casters, jack platform, drip pans) - it's you and your family under the thing!!

Buy at a show - you end up getting a grand or more of extras - I bought at Carlisle.

Wire for 220 and get a 220 - you don't think you need faster until you do it a few times!!

Recessed lights - for obvious reasons.

Yes wire it for 220.http://www.bendpak.com/product_info.isg?products_id=748 This is the lift my family has. It's nice because it rachets like a roller coaster so it can't fall. I cant remember how tall our garage ceiling is, but you can lift a Yukon all the way up. I'll get how tall it is later.

Quicky One,

The overall height of that lift is just over 12' tall. I'm trying to figure out if it would be worth fitting a lift in my garage that has 9' ceilings. I'm beginning to think not.

I was looking at Bend Pak but saw some really bad photos/reports of failure - Almost all of the Asian (including Bend Pak) sourced products come from the same importer in Dallas.

From what I researched I couldnt find anything bad. Ya never know. It has performed flawlessly. Not that it matters but I noticed Monster garage uses them.
