Paint and everything else looks correct. Now that's one HELLUVA car to own! Wish I had an extra $24,000 sitting around. Guess I'll be holding out for a low mile '87 Turbo Limited. Anyone know of one? Here's all I could find.

Out of curiosity, would "xray", the one white GNX maybe be considered more rare/valuable? since there was only one ever made in white. Is it still alive?

X-Ray is still alive.
I don't believe that question has an answer. It's all about collector value which means supply vs. demand. I con't believe there's any way to find that out unless they're put on the market to see what they'd get. In my opinion, X-Ray would be worth $50-$60,000 if it's still pristine and low miles with all GNx items with the car (jacket/hat etc).

I thought all 82 GNs were silver and Black this one looks silver and grey, that's all I'm saying.

Guy's,
As stated the turbo ' 82 GN is a rare item. I thought there were 215 82 GN's of which 15 were turbocharged. Maybe it was 16 but there aren't many. With this said it really isn't a popular collectable either. The car in the picture is a correct representation of an ' 82 GN and the paint scheme is right for the car. ' 82 GN's weren't black they were silver/grey. It's a very sharp car but not worth anything close to the asking price. Neal

I wonder....
I think the guy that owns "X-Ray" has a couple of rare TTA's as well. I remember seeing some of them from an F-Body site but cant remember where. I'll look and if I spot it I'll put a link to it.

There were 25+ '82 GN with the 3.8 Turbo V6.
The were all charcoal gray and silver. (Not couting the 1/64 cars made by Johnny Lightning. )This car is worth about ½ the asking price IMO. That's just what it sold for last year. The Dove book shows the prototype '82 GN. It's gray and silver as well. The GNX X-Ray is a non-GM, custom car. HTH ![]()

So the statement it's a non-GM car is correct but is a factory GNx as delivered from the MacLaren factory specifically made for a MacLaren employee. It was NOT a post-delivery repaint. Stock??....depends on your personal defintion of "stock" or "factory". In my auto theft class which was taught by one of Michigan's foremost experts on stolen cars I gave him the VIN to my TTA. He said it wasn't valid since he can deciphre VINs without looking them up. I explained exactly what it was and he was still perplexed. That's how unknown this topic is.....

But the GNX and TTA were factory sanctioned cars converted for GM, contracted by GM and sold at GM dealers. The X-ray car was a ACS employee modifing a car for his one use. The public could be a GNX or TTA, but the white GNX.
I guess the big question would be who oned the car when it was converted - GM or the ACS employee? Last edited by b4black : July 18th, 2003 at 10:02 PM. |

As far as I'm concerned X-Ray came from MacLaren white with white paint codes and that makes it an oroginal white GNx in my book. What else do you need?

Me? I don't need diddly.
No pictures or anything. I know what it is. ASC, PAS, MacLaren, Rosch, Saleen or whoever came make whatever they want. There are factory cars and there are non-factory cars. You don't need to explain it further. I understood it well before this thread. We read different books. For me, it's who prompted the the vehicle's production. If b4Black says its grey... its grey, but I would have bet my life that the car on the the Dove book is Black with silver.
