Hey that is my car!

This is my Grand National. It did $24,499 when I first put it on ebay about a month and a half ago. I had several post auction offers but when I responded to the people who made the offers I either did not hear back or they decided to make an even lower counter-offer. So I ended up deciding to relist the car this time with a reserve pretty close to what the auction ended at the last time. The old auction # was #2416453353 if you want to check it out.

I bought one of the GN's from the estate. All were purchased at Mitchell Buick in Chicago in 87. The owner of Loren Buick in Glenview Ill. bought several of these 87 GN's. Mine had 644 miles on the clock when I bought it.

It is really neat to go to the storage place and lift off the cover and see a great example of a Grand National just the way it looked 16 years ago. I love having it in my collection but I would much prefer to get my own house so that is why I am selling. If I was already settled in with my own home I would surely keep it.

My GN and the other cars from the estate were all bought in Massachusetts. I have all of the original paperwork and spoke with the executor of the estate to confirm this. Apparently he was not the only guy with a collection of brand new GNs though!

As I said in the ebay ad, it was bought by a guy new in 1987. He stored it, barely drove it and died in 1999. I bought the car from the estate sale and am still the owner. I am not quite sure what you are talking about by saying how many owners has this car had lately?

The engine compartment is a little scabby for 316 that must have been the milage that the speedo cable was pulled. Just MHO not trying to be an ass.

It is called undercoating and is original to the car. You say you were not trying to be an ass but you were. Maybe you should contact someone to ask before you publicly bash their item for sale. To even suggest the mileage is not legit without seeing the car is absolutely ridiculous. Could I have detailed the engine compartment? Yes, but I chose to leave it all original. Everything is clean just not polished. The etiquette of some people is astounding.

Great car, I'd sure as hell like to have it. I agree that remarks like this are totally uncalled for. If your not an interested buyer, if you do not know the seller or the car, why make a statement or inference such as that.

Thanks for the support. Kind of sad that I have been a member here for quite a while and love coming to this site but I did not feel comfortable enough to even list my car on this site with a link to the ebay auction because I knew there would be some joker who would try to discredit the car. Thanks again for your support.

Rich

Nojug,

This car belongs to my very good friend. I have seen this car. It is beautiful. The car has been sitting in storage for it's whole life. It was never even registered to drive on the roads until this year. He even has the original certificate of origin from the original dealer. You don't get those with cars that have been driven and the speedo disconnected.

It is amazing to me how people on our own board are so quick to attack. We are on the same side aren't we. It's not like he is trying to sell a ricer on our board. This car is legit and well worth the money he is looking for.

If you don't have something constructive to say or can't provide actual knowledge of this car why hurt someones's chances of selling with ignorrant comments?

To be honest, I am selling my car as well. And for the same reason as 1987 GN I am not listing on this board. I don't want to go thru the crap of having my 11K car picked apart. But, if my car sells and his doesn't sell on Ebay I am hoping to buy his. It is that nice.

Was undercoating a dealer option or a factory option? The PO of my car claimed it has always had undercoating and I must admit it's a pretty extensive job. Must be 100lbs worth on the car. ..

Yes, they also spray it in the engine compartment. Too bad some people just can't sit on their hands instead of feeling the obligation to bash someone's car.

The factory sprayed an undercoating under the hoods of the cars. It is like a brownish yellow color. Looks dirty. My car has it still. But you can also get the underside of the car undercoated as an aftermarket option. It is black and helps to prevent rusting. My car has that as well. 1987 GN's car has the factory stuff only. It will come off for anyone interested in taking it off.

Yeah, that definitely it then! I've noticed Zebart caps elsewhere in the car so I assume the rest was done by them at the dealer perhaps.

I am not sure why you feel the need to bring up a specific person's car but I don't know anything about Joe Derry's GN. I never saw it. I do know that Joe was waiting at the trailer for his car to come off and never allowed the dealer to prep it so if what you say is true about the dealer putting it on I would guess Joe's car doesn't have it.
