terrible day for a 86 GN and owner

Well I got a phone call Monday from the neighbor where my GN is stored. Heard banging in Garage and when he approached teenagers ran. He got a hold of me well when I got there both door windows broke. Dash ripped out stereo gone column shot trunk lid half pried off. They tried to pry out back glass with axe. Used pick and axe on doors trunk lid and various places on car. Unknown if they got it running. Had been restoring car was completely strait all need was primer and paint and new front suspension installation I already have parts. I have all new seat covers already. I drove to Kentucky from St Louis about 2 years ago for the trunk lid and drivers door. Purchased rear bumper. Car had been in hail storm and someone following to close way to close. The house on property took the worst though new tenants moving in (in a couple of weeks). 5 small fires and a lot of time with baseball bats and the pick and axe. Now all I can hope is state farm treats me right. If they total it I might try and buy it back and take drive train and make a G-body sleeper.
Hope everybody else had a better 4th weekend. Andy

that sucks, some people need to be thrown off the face of the earth... if i was your neighbor i would have chased after those kids and beat them sensless... not that they had much sense in the first place. did the cops at least get any fingre prints off the car? maybe you can catch those scumb bags..

WTF? That totally sucks. Steal someone's $25K car and it's a minor thing. Steal $25K worth of stuff out of their house and it's a major felony. I don't see much of a difference. No wonder there are so many car thieves.

Sorry to hear about that.

Keep us posted about how State Farm treats your claim. I have them and they have been good for claims on other cars, but I'm always worried about how they'll treat me if the GN gets stolen or totaled. I may be going to stated value insurance, like Hagerty.

police

They were very helpful and the crime scene people were there for about 4 hours, finger prints, shoe indentations, dna one of them spit on the mirror in house. They are treating this like a major deal about 35000 in damages total with house, grand larceny, arson, ect. It was in St Charles county off of 79 and Mexico road. Thanks for your support. The only thing I am worried about with state farm is the car was in the middle of a restoration. Andy

Damn, people like that should seriously be shot. I'm really glad to hear that the police are doing their best on this though. Hopefully State Farm will treat you right, I've heard they're a good company. I wish you luck, sorry to hear what happened.

Man does that ever suck, luckily that doesn't happen that often where I live.. at least not to anyone I know.

My brother does have a story though, he was working up north and had his 67 beaumont (canadian chevelle eh!) parked when he went rock climbing.. when he came back, some kid was rooting around in his car.

He ended up chasing him down and (amazingly, considering his temper) just yelled at him, didn't rough him up at all. Well so he said.

Hope the insurance company doesn't screw you over.
