Today was the first time...

...... I saw a Mclaren F1 and a Century T-Type!

I saw both while I was driving home from work. I saw the T-type in town and the Mclaren on the Interstate. The T-type looked all original except dark tinted windows. The Mclaren of course looked awesome! I asked my wife if she knows how much money she's driving beside. She was clueless.
I looked to see what NBA player was driving, but it looked like a Native American guy. Probably a casino owner.

I thought it was neat to see two pretty rare cars. Of course I'd rather have the Century!

You sure the McLaren wasnt one of those kit cars with a Fiero frame and engine under it?

That was my first thought, but the wheelbase was no Fiero and the driver looked like he was sitting in the middle of the car. I've seen those Ferrari F-50 Fieros and this wasn't that.

I'm as pro-TR as they come, but if you'd rather have any TR (dare I say it, even a GNX!) over a McLaren F1, you're hitting the crack pipe!

Some of these kit cars are really good. They have provisions for extended wheelbases using either F body chassis or modified Fiero ($hitbody) chassis. A body shop owner in my zone has a hand built 355ci powered Countach replica. When I mean hand built, I mean he fabricated the wing, fenders, doors, etc by HAND. He used factory Countach headlights, taillights, emblems and windshield. Other than the relatively cheesy looking white leather interior (console LOOKS home made) and super throaty V8 sound, it looks totally legit..even from 5 feet away. Took him SIX years to build it, on and off....and he said he's only taken it to 75mph. I'll have to snag pictures of it one of these days.

As I recall, the Century was NOT a Turbo Regal. Just had the T-type emblems and such?

You saw a McLaren? Where you driving a TR at the time?? That woulda been one hell of a kill if you coulda goosed him into a race. Of course you would have to win for it to be a kill... good luck.

Ahh, you are right, it's not a TR at all. But it still is somewhat related.

If he beat a McLaren F1, the F1 probably gave up early, because if he would have held out, it's not easy to match a top speed of 231 mph!

The Century has an n/a 3800 engine. Same as the LeSabres rec'd that year.

There are tons of those kit cars in the Detroit area. Never buy a Lamborghini or Ferrari from Detroit!

Of course I'd rather have the F-1 that's the reason for the green face.

I was riding with my wife in her Cougar. Even if I was in the GN I wouldn't dare. Unless of course, I wanted typed about on the Mclaren F1 kill section.

Imagine if you raced him and he got pulled over and had his car taken away for drag racing...Wow, that's a million dollar loss!

People with exotic cars really don't street race either. I guess it's not worth it.

WOW, how fast was he doing? I can see the guy in the Diablo getting killed, but aren't Volvo's safety vaults?

I got into a street race with a guy in a Porsche 911 when I lived in Florida. Granted, not an F1, but at least it was a kill. I just want to know what was going through the girls mind when her man's Porsche got beat by a 'family sedan'.

That really sucks. With an exotic car I'm not sure I'd even enter the track. Also, isn't it true that no one really modifies exotic cars?

Also not true... the difference is aftermarket parts are usually very custom, not installed by DIY ers, and hugely expensive (a Tubi Exaust system for a Diablo is $12,000!!! Campaginolo wheels for Ferraris are close to $15,000 or more in some cases).

Honestly If I had one.. the first week Id be nervous... then id drive the balls off it track is the first place id go!!

BTW just a funny note, the local Ferrari club decided to go autocrossing one day and came down to our SCCA NY region autocross... They left after the morning session after geting their asses handed to them by everything from a beat up honda accord, to my old dog 305 87 TA. They couldnt drive worth a darn, I think my sister woulda been faster in her 86 V6 Craparo.
