Fiscus 8.28 TSO Outlaw

Just want to congratulate my friend Dave. He ran an 8.28@172.21 last weekend. This was an OUTLAW pass.

Thumbs up

Wow, that is some SERIOUS MPH!!!! Congrats to Dave, but please tell us what makes this an Outlaw pass? Was it the weight of the car or was Dave using a bigger turbo??

Either way that is super impressive from a stock suspension V6 and I'm ASSuming he was still on the 325 M/T radials.

Otto my friend, I would never take anythign away from Dave, he had the fastest car all year but Ted A. did win 3 out the 4 events he went to and I believe the TSO Top Gun points series too. In my book that makes Ted the man for 2008 in TSO. I know Ted's car pretty well and I have a hard time believing he is going to make a 172 pass in near the current trim. So my hat is off to the Fiscus crew

Ted is the TSO points series champion and point series ET record holder. He won Columbus and Osceola.
Dave won Bowlng Green and Norwalk and is the GSCA record holder. They raced each other twice this year and each won once.

In legal trim, both cars have shown similar performance.

WOW! 172 mph! 86, outlaw trim means it wasn't either a qualifying or eliminations pass at a TSO event with the car weighed after the pass. In this case to pick up that much mph I have to think he was testing a new turbo, but that is sheer speculation on my part :-). Way to go, Dave!

Dave, that is just insane sick power you are making with your car. That must have been quite a ride. Congrats on your accomplishments, you have set the bar so high that I don't think will ever be touched.

Dave has a history racing this class and to come into the class and line up against a champion racer you need to know that you better be on your game, especially when they are bringing big power to the table.

To think a year ago we thought 160 was something to be seeing at the events, now we will have 170. I don't think that TSO has ever had this much ground covered in one year.

That is totally crazy! Congrats Dave, you worked for it.

I think for me that about sums up any future TSO rules discussions. The cars are going way faster than ever before. I don't see anyone building a new car to enter TSO.

We have talked about a lot of things in the past regarding the class and trying to limit it. I think it's way too far-gone to try and limit it with parts and weight. Dave's car is running so fast why would he ever want to change it?

I've said it before but I move to change TSO to be an index class. No way to limit the power without someone having to spend a lot of money. No way to attract more racers, who would want to spend that much to maybe have a combination to try and compete? Limit the ET in an index to say 8.80 or 8.90. Dave, Ted, Tony, etc. can keep their really fast combinations and be allowed to race whatever class but when it comes to racing TSO they need to turn it down. Just a thought, I don't see any way to limit the ET and make it competitive for the class without it always turning into a select few having a distinct advantage and everyone else breaking parts to catch up.

Sorry for hijacking the thread. I’d like to have a rules discussion but I just don’t see one happening for a while.

Leave TSO alone and start an Index class for guys that want to go that style racing.

Just a thought, I don't think without drastic changes there will be a TSO with full car count.

I am all for a points series index class also. Maybe BG TSO can be a heads up run what you brung and the points series can be a index since we had some issues with car count this year at a couple of events and we need car count for a points series to be successful.

I think both TSO and TSM you will need to spend alot of $$$ to compete.
Congrats Dave, that's hauling!!!
Ted is right there, hard to compete with those guys!

I think it was a GT-55/91 and he was taking a shot at 7.90's in the cool air. Boost was well north of 40 psi He was testing the limits of a converter as well and he still can't blow through it

Changing this class to index is the worst idea I've ever heard. That would eliminate any need for vendors to develop new parts, sponsorship $$$ will fall like a rock. It just slaps the guys in the face who worked their butts off to be faster.

OR if people want index I'd vote for 8.0 so everybody can step up

Art.
Looking back at some of the other comments while I was typing the last reply....TSO has never had a 16 car field. I'm trying to remember if it ever had an 8 car field. Fact is, guys aren't building TSO cars to compete in TSO. Most of them are building cars for themselves that just happen to fit TSO. Some of them race, some don't. You have to have a real desire to stick with the V6's with the kind of money you have to invest in them. When I looked into it I did not want to invest that kind of $$$ to run a couple races a year and run 8.50's. Most racers feel this way so your not going to see a lot of new 8 second TSO style cars popping up no matter what the rules are. Majority of the TSO racers are guys who've been in the class for years.

from an "outsider" knowing Rich, Ted, Avon, Artie , Chris the bar keeps getting pushed higher...which is great for promoting V6 power...but breakage this year has been more of an issue in years past....heck before the 2008 season started I for one was hoping for a great year....to see Ted Avon and Ficus and Chris and Rich to go at it....but that is all you really have....6 guys to compete in a Race series...the way I see it is without a limit..sky is the limit...and you will keep the used to be guys out of the running....nothing against Dave or Ted for pushing the envelope...but if TSO is to continue and draw other than the 8 guys that have been in it for the last 4 years...something needs to change...just my opinion...for what it is worth

I really dont think change will add any more TSO cars, but may keep a few from jumping out of TSO
