I saw them in Raleigh last June. They still can play, though Geddy can't sing as high as he used to without whining (vocal cord strain?) Also Geddy did sing off key a few times, but overall a great show. I'm glad I went. Just don't be surprised if you see chicken rotisserie ovens behind Geddy, he does this in jest as he no longer has the wall of PA equipment behind him like Alex still does.
Also don't expect to hear "Closer to the heart", they say they have grown tired of playing that one and have since quit.

Major RUSH fan since 1982. I have seen them in support of every album since then, sometimes 2 or 3 shows each time. They can still rock with the best of them, and they actually seem to play with more energy and enthusiasm than in years past. I am glad they extended the Snakes & Arrows tour into 2008. I will see this show for the third time in June. You will not regret seeing them!!!!

better than ever since they cut down on all the computer generated stuff they were doing in the early-mid 90's. Age has slowed them down and taken a little out of Geddy's voice but still worth the price of admission. And yes do expect some sort of sight gag onstage: one year Alex had a row of clothes dryers behind him.

Best thing to come out of Canda...period.
RUSH ROCKS!!
Rush (band - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) Best thing to come out of Canda...period. Every concert I went to was the BOMB!! I can't make it to the local show this year which really bothers me. I will be in the mix for a Pinks! All-Out episode the SAME night. If I make it to the top 32, I promised myself that I'd buy a RUSH concert ticket, out of town. Still not sure they still rock? Pick up the Rush in RIO DVD. That'll cinch your decision. Remember this band has been around for over 30 years, w/o band drama and tour cancellations. To answer your question, yes. GO! IF NOT SEND ME YOUR TICKETS!!!!!!!!!!!!! ElectraJim Rush is a Canadian rock band originally formed in August 1968, in the Willowdale neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario; presently comprised of bassist, keyboardist, and lead vocalist Geddy Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson, and drummer and lyricist Neil Peart. The band and its membership went through a number of re-configurations between 1968 and 1974, achieving their definitive form when Neil Peart replaced original drummer John Rutsey in July 1974, two weeks before the group's first U.S. tour. Since the release of the band's self-titled debut album in March 1974, Rush has become known for the instrumental skills of its members, complex compositions, and eclectic lyrical motifs drawing heavily on science fiction, fantasy, and libertarian philosophy, as well as addressing humanitarian, social, emotional, and environmental concerns. Musically, Rush's style has evolved over the years, beginning in the vein of blues-inspired heavy metal on their first album, then encompassing hard rock, progressive rock, a period dominated by synthesizers and, more recently, modern rock. They have influenced various musical artists such as Metallica,[1][2] The Smashing Pumpkins[3] and Primus,[3] as well as notable progressive metal bands such as Dream Theater[1] and Symphony X.[4] Rush has won a number of Juno Awards, and was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1994. Over the course of their careers, the individual members of Rush have been acknowledged as being some of the most proficient players on their respective instruments, with each band member winning several awards in magazine readers' polls. As a group, Rush possesses 24 gold records and 14 platinum (3 multi-platinum) records. These statistics place Rush fifth behind The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Kiss and Aerosmith for the most consecutive gold and platinum albums by a rock band. Rush also ranks 78th in U.S. album sales according to the RIAA with sales of 25 million units.[5] Although total worldwide album sales are not calculated by any single entity, as of 2004 several industry sources estimated Rush's total worldwide album sales at over 40 million units. The band is currently promoting their latest album, Snakes & Arrows with an intercontinental tour. The second leg is set to begin in San Juan, Puerto Rico on April 11, and finish in Atlanta, Georgia, July 22.[6] Last edited by Electrajim : April 7th, 2008 at 03:39 PM. |

I saw them for the first time back 2 or 3 years ago at my first concert at RedRocks in Denver..that is one bad azz place to see a show..and Rush was very bad azz there too! I thought they were great..but the thin air and all the beer really got to me too
![]() Back in HS..over 20 years ago, I had several friends that would drive all the way from Ft. Worth up to RedRocks to see shows, Ozzy and Iron MAiden I recall...but my parents wouldn't let me make the trip but I finally got to see a show there while there working.
