CAN ANAYONE RECOMMEND A GOOD/INNEXPENSIVE CLASSIC CAR INSURANCE COMPANY FOR MY 1987 GN.
I CURRENTLY HAVE HAGERTY WHICH EXPIRES IN NOVEMBER OF 2007. I RECEIVED MY RENEWAL TODAY (485.00) A YEAR. I HAVE BEEN WITH THEM 3 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER MADE A CLAIM AND HAVE A PERFECT DRIVING RECORD. THERE HAS TO BE OTHER COMPANIES OUT THERE THAT WILL GIVE US A BETTER DEAL. ANY INFO WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS IN ADVANCE. ![]()

Hagerty screwed me over big time a couple years back. first year was $350 for $15k coverage, next year it doubled to well over $700. I called and they said it was a change in KS law that allows them to charge me more since I'm uner 25. Long story short I let them rape me for two years because I feared regular full coverage in the event that I needed it. Eventually I said hell with it and went back with good ol' allied which is still $400 a year but is paid monthly. I turn 25 in Feb so I plan to contact grundy at that time to see what they can do.
I've always wanted to have mark hueffman make me a license tag surround that says "hagerty insurance sucks" but have never gotten around to it. Also if some hagerty guy saw it at a big event or something i'd probably have to dig my way out of some lawsuit they'd come up with. No matter who you go with, they are all crooks. Make sure to get some vaseline.

I'm insured through Auto Club. They also have a classic car insurance policy, which I have my other vehicle covered through. I have my GN insured through a regular policy since I drive it very frequently.

Hagerty insured my 1981 911 Porsche last year for $160. That was $19K agreed value and max liability and comp with no deductables. I'm an old fart though and think the policy called for 2500 or less miles a year. I was extremely happy with Hagerty. Obviously, YMMV.
To anyone who thinks State Farm or AAA have collector car insurance, they might be surprised in a total loss event. Unless you have a policy that states "agreed value", you may get screwed. Stated value, replacement value, declared value, yada yada yada... these are values placed on your car by the insurance company and I can almost guarantee you won't get 100% of any value on your policy. An agreed value is placed on your car by you and that is the exact amount you will receive. |

Haggerty has no mileage limitations either, and I would bet will be more flexible about how you drive the car. All of my cars are still insured with Haggerty, and I have zero deductible. This is on my '67, '90 and '93. When I owned my GN, I also had zero deductable.

A few minutes ago I got a quote from Hagerty for my chevelle of $164.00 per year.
Agreed value OF $15,000 Plus the other minimum legal requirements I am waiting to receive a Grundy quote in a few days. Or maybe I’ll call them tomorrow.

See if "Cotton States Insurance" is operating in your state. I have been with them since 1983 and will never leave them. I've had five claims in all that time and they never raised my rates ever because of a claim. When my fully restored 72 Stage1 got bumped by some goof making a left they did not even send an adjuster. They told me to find the "new" parts and get an estimate for the labor and they sent me a check in less than week. They do show car limited mileage drivers but I insure my T as a "daily driver" with no restrictions for $16K replacement value (based on an appraisel) with collision, comprehensive, towing and 50/100 coverage for about $450-500/year. They insure all my vehicles, home and business and I have never had an issue with them for any claim.
Even when my first wife (of three years) slammed her boyfriend from behind and he sued me for $50K so they could get a house together they just took care of it and never said a word to me. I divorced her after that (she wrecked my 74 Buick on that deal right after she totaled my 69SS a few months before). She also totaled a mint 72 Fiat 128 I had a year or so before the SS. What was I thinking when I married her? Anyway if Cotton States is available call them. Mikey

I called my regular Ins. company they said that they can give me full cover. So I asked them what they would use as a value guide for my car and they said "we use N.A.D.A and other factors" and naturally I asked "what are the other factors?" and I couldn't get a straight answer to the question. She kept on saying that the N.A.D.A would be a close guide along with other factors I then asked again “what are the other factors?
The bottom line is that she couldn't or didn't want to tell me what the other factors are and just insisted that N.A.D.A would be a close guide to the value. So I am still desperately shopping for INS for my car. The part that gets me is that with so many classics and hot rods on road and so little responses on this topic. Is it just me that wants to drive my car and the rest of the world has garage furniture? Or Are they just chancing it with Grundy’s and Hagerty’s very restrictive coverage? Today I am going to call my Ins. company again and see if I get another agent that might have specific answers to my questions BTW the quote was $1200.00 a year.

Here in Mass we couldn't get Haggerty or Grundy in the past. Now that we have a new system does anyone know if either one of those are available in Mass for our cars. I would love to spend 500 bucks for 20k of insurance.
