My old Mease test pipe was leaking at the flange where it meets the exhaust system. The flange on the pipe was visually bent up for whatever reason. I don't know if it was soft or what. I put a straight edge across the Torque Tech flange and it's straight. So I started hacking on the Mease pipe with a cutter since it was crimped on the downpipe so tightly. Well, I cut into my 3" THDP a little bit but not enough to worry about. What did concern me was all the rust that fell out of my THDP when I pulled the test pipe off! Big huge chunks of it. The end of the THDP where the test pipe was clamped on was rotted a bit, too.

Now, I could've saved the downpipe by welding a little bit on the end but what fun would that be? I ordered up a new 3.5" polished SS downpipe from gbodyparts.com with a new test pipe (though after talking to Brian there is some question as to whether I'll get a test pipe or a dump pipe, which really doesn't matter to me).

Boost231: Where did you put your WB02 sensor? Looks pretty far back in the exhaust. Since I'm swapping out my downpipe I have an opportunity to relocate mine farther back in the exhaust stream.

Jim

Went to the garage. Opened up the hood, removed the main engine wiring harness to replace it with a new one while the engine is getting rebuilt.

Looked at it some more and wondered why I got too crazy with the boost and blew the damn headgaskets. I could be driving this thing yet!!

Ordered some more engine parts on Friday. I can't wait to get this thing back together again.!!

Passenger side manifold had a crack that went nearly all the way the pipe where the primary tube meets the up pipe. Had a spare manifold laying around so I figured I'd swap it out today. Broke one of the bolts that mates the downpipe to the turbine housing. There is about 1/4" of broken bolt sticking out of the housing, so I'm hoping it will come out after a good overnight soak in some penetrating oil.

Drove my car last night, going to drive it again today. I'll go to the garage and look under it and see how much oil im leaking. Realized the yoke seal started to leak while it sat for a week.

Waiting for a new bracket for my alky pump, since it broke last week, but since i just had to drive it, i flipped the bracket and drove it. I only hope it doesnt break while im driving now since its cracked a tad.

Thanks for the pic. I've been going back and forth on where to put mine: DP or test pipe. I'll have to eyeball it once the DP and test pipe actually get here.

well i rolled the engine over today and pulled the oil pan and inspected the main bearing and they looked great. I pulled the # 3 rod cap off and inspected that bearing since it was the cylinder that had the gasket failure. well that bearing looked good also. Now since the #4 rod was up i decided to inspect it's bearings also. The bearings themselves looked good. But the #4 rod journal has 2 small hairline cracks in them. also the rolled fillet has some distorted area's in them also will try and snap some pic of them.

I drove my car to town today!!!!! First time since June (blown headgasket). Spent last two months trying to figure out electical things. I was happy just taking it easy. It started raining so I didn't want to get on it too much. But a mile from home I got on it about 1/2 to 3/4 throttle only to have it totally lose power. It gave me that sick feeling, but it would run if I didn't press the gas much at all. Pulled it back in garage were it's been hiding for 4 months and not sure if I wanted to figure it out again but I opened the hood and started checking wires when I bumped the up pipe only to find that it came off at the trottle body. It looks like I might be driving it tomorrow now!!!
