I finally replaced my dissintregrated IC fan yesterday. Took some "creative" thinking to do it without taking anything off the car. Didnt touch the IC, intake piping or anything. Slid it in behind the IC on the passengers side and bolted it up. Took a while but I got all three bolts tight. If its as nice as they say it'll be here tommorow, I'll see about swapping out the DS header. Been meaning to do that for a while, and maybe next weekend I'll do the headliner and new rear speakers and seat braces. Gotta get the AN fittings for my new oil cooler lines as well.
Tieing up all the little loose ends....

I'm guessing it was water spotted? I've tried numerous different things and have had some luck but found nothing that will remove it completely. ![]()

well i used some stuff made by dura-gloss called nu-glass. you really have to put some elbow grease into it. I then followed it by some stuff made by a company called L@S industries. but both seem to work good. the L/S industries stuff cut it just a tad quicker.

New turbo is on. Think I might get it running today but I didn't sleep much last night, might leave it for the weekend. Just have to throw the I/C pipes on and button up any loose ends.

Today was the first decently warm day we have had this year. I got underneath to start the whole disassembly process, that will ultimately (hopefully) lead to a total rebuild of the body and chassis.
I pulled the gas tank, which, considering its been in there so long, was a chore. The passenger side rear hanger came apart, finally. The drivers side however, turns out was rusted through, so it came down rather fast, and not in a good way. Good thing I had a jack with some support under it. The whole project idea is simple, really. Get the car so it will move in and out of the garage under its own power. Im sick of dragging it out and pushing it back in with my Cruiser. (its a mud/gravel base on the floor of a portable garage). But with the metal fuel lines rusted through, it hasnt gone anywhere in awhile. I think Im going to get a small fuel cell, and an external pump, and rig it all up front to supply fuel to run the motor. Once that happens, then I can start ripping apart the interior, taking all the important stuff out (seats, dash, etc) and moving them inside. I've decided the car is going down to bare, and everything is going to get done the right way. When I had the tank out, I confirmed my suspicions that it needs a whole new front floor pan. That cinched it. If it takes me years, it takes years. It was my grandpa's car. If it was anything else, Id drop the TR gear in something else. But, no, Im going to restore it. Back to its original form. Kinda think he would want it that way. It was my first car, and its the car that made me want to learn to work on cars myself. This car has taught me a lot, and in the restoration process, it seems it will teach me a lot more. Its not a wreck, its just rusty. No body dents, straight frame. This car and I have a 12 year history personally, and 21 total including the years my grandpa owned it. I know every wire, every scratch, every bit of this car. My tax returns are going to jump start this project, as well as do a bit to make sure my daily driver keeps going. So, its going to be a long road, I guess you don't go anywhere without taking that first step. I have to start clearing out room in the house for the good pieces, (not to mention the good sheetmetal I've been hoarding in anticipation of all this). ....I need a bigger house! ![]()

Didnt really do much to the white limited, went ahead and got it ready for the shootout tomorrow... Vacuumed it out, aired up the airbags and tires, dusted off the engine. Checked the rear shock settings, installed a pinion snubber...
Scrapped off the numbers from last novembers event at the track, unloaded the trunk of its contents. Went over the list of items i just installed over the winter and made sure everything was tightened down. 10s or bust BW

Just got mine out the shop last week, and it came home with a bad oil leak, pulled the front cover to replace gasket, waiting for gasket sealer to set, and finish it up in the AM.

Hahaha oh man my car is going to be absurd this year. Just installed my 4" Full Throttle MAF pipe to existing 4" cold air plumbing and 4" inlet turbo, it looks soooo ridiculous in a good way. I already know everyone is going to stare at that thing at car shows.
Not gunna do much else today, found a few more things I want to work on while I have so much stuff out of the engine bay right now. Gunna order up some fittings from Summit to redo my custom oil cooler lines, never liked the way I routed it. |

We took measurements for wheels to day. We have a Moser 9" installed with Wilwood disc brakes, just trying to figure the back spacing we will need. Want to run 15X8" wheels with 275/60/15 MT street radials. The stock 10 bolt was 58" WMS to WMS and the Moser is 57.75" WMS to WMS. We are not going to notch the frame but will roll the fender lip.
