What a long winter that was.............

DRIVERS START YOUR ENGINES!!!!!!

It was a long wait but we are at it again. Wish my boy luck. Had to put a new motor on for this year cause he blew it twice last year. We are off to a good start so far, knock on wood. I'm so proud of him, and my other kids of course, but I'm on cloud nine right now. Out of 4 kids I only ended up with 1 car/race lover. I guess thats better then none.

Cherish these moments that will FLASH by. Good luck to you and your son. The first time my son ever drove a car (EVER!!) we were at the track and I let him drive the GN. He was only 15 and didn't even have a learners permit. He DID run right on the track record at the local indoor go-cart track, though, so I knew he could handle it if it got sideways. I had the GN in full street trim and no boost, but he ran 107 mph. His next time at the track he runnered up!!! Better to be lucky, than good, I guess. It was such a thrill to sit in the stands and watch my son do what I am very passionate about.
He and his sister both went on to row (crew) at the Jr. Nationals, too. I miss those days.

Thank you for the good luck wishes. Time does fly by very fast. This is my youngest so its a little bitter sweet. I told him he can take his drivers test in my GN when he is of age and he was so happy he almost cried. I figure if he can keep his foot out of the throttle, not scare/hurt the instructor, and pass his test in that car, he deserves to have a license . I offered the same to my other kids and they said no thanks cause its too big and they are afraid of it. Who would have thought a midsize car was too big? But I have time till those days come. Thanks again.

Cool pics. I can't wait to get up there this year. After recently installing the alky and a CAI I'm hoping to go from a 13.6 @100 last Thanksgiving to 13.4 @ 110, lol.... Slight traction problems here.

Not sure if you know or not but they did some work to the track. They ground it and resurfaced it. Everyone is having traction issues now, even the full slick cars. Just not enough rubber on the track yet. Hope to see you there soon though and thanks.

I keep telling my best friend the same thing. He has a (soon to be) 6 year old daughter.
She was helping him on cars when she could barely walk. Now she knows all about cars. She hands him tools, holds the light, etc. She gets the biggest kick out of watching us on the 4 wheelers, bikes, working on the cars. He would probably have her in one of those JR's but the ex wife probably wouldnt take that too well..lol.
I have a feeling though that in a year or so she will have her own mini 4 wheeler, dirt bike or something like that. She always rides along with him. I hope someday when I have kids they have an interest in cars/motorsports. Its one thing my dad and I dont share interest in, he could care less about cars and wont change his oil till the idiot light comes on. I hope I have kids with a common interest. When he lived with me, my friends daughter would pick up my drumsticks and play around on my electric kit, and was really into it. I bought her a little electronic tabletop kit last Christmas. (her mom now hates me!..lol, well, more so than before anyway!)
