Post to port or not to port ?

hay guys, just needing feedback on decideing if i should port the heads i got?
they are aluminum GN1 heads my mechanic knows my build up better than i do, my thing is i heard one guy on this issue who said he got no gains what so ever, i really don't want to spend the extra $500 if i don't have too, mind you we are building a nice mid to high 9's car. and if there is a difference
what are they 1-2 tenths?

thanks guys

Kind of a loaded question. If you can port the heads and get a better flowing head, it WILL make more power. BUT the rest of the package has to be able to keep up. If your turbo is on the ragged edge, now, the porting should help a "little" If you have more flow waiting in the turbo, then better heads should make measurably more horsepower. It's all in the combination. Port volume is probably needed for your goals, as long as it doesn't kill low lift flow numbers. Talk with Champion and see what they get out of a ported GN1's

Porting is an art if you know what your doing you can help out a head if not ussually ruin it . I think you can run high 9s with unported heads if you know what you doing , for most ppl its easier with all the supporting cast you can get .

Thumbs up

Great feedback, thanks guys-I will call champion and ask (Fab) and i will be installing a new turbo either a 72 or 74 q-trim, 70 mm throttle body most likly 83lb injectors ( or is there a better injector? ) Laz, everyone down here in dade county knows you and if you feel high 9's are obtainable than that's fine by me. My mechanic has a list of what's going in my gn but it's so dam long ,

Thanks for the feedback
Carlos
