Power inverter

What power inverter to all you use for your car laptops? I bought a Whistler 800 watt one and it didnt come with a cigarette lighter adapter. They want you to hook it up straight to the battery. What about the ones that read out voltage? So what do all you have? A link would be great.

Radio Shack has cigarette adapter ones. Get one with the most wattage you can, so you aren't pushing the inverter.

I think I might just get a cigarette lighter plug and wire it to the inverter. I'll check out what they have.

I have one, i purchased it from J.C.Whitney about 7 years ago.

It now serves fat butt heat pad duty (DAD)for long distance trips across america in my 02 dodge diesel pickup.

You want the wattage off it? Yes it plugs right into the cig lighter.

Well I went to radioshack and they had one option for $60 bucks. I got this 800 watt one for $59 so I wasnt going to downgrade just for a plug. So, I went ahead and bought a unit like this but for $2. It is 10 amp rated RadioShack.com - Phones & Radio Communications: Accessories: Radio & scanner accessories: Cables & adapters: Vehicle Power Adapter Plug with Banana Jack and has a little LED on it. Now all I have to do is solder ring terminals on and I'm done.
