That about sums it up. PowerTV owns the servers, everything streams from them but the users upload the videos and the hosting website just kind of acts as a gateway.

This thread makes me ask a legit question. I'd like to do some Buick and Turbo TA art. I did two painting for the Conleys many years ago (The Turqoise Tweaked GN Guy) and I was thinking of doing some more. It's Buick and TTA specific that's why I'd try here first, So my question is what do you have to do? Buy an ad, become a vendor? How much cost is involved with becoming a legit seller here?

Kinda wishin' I'd left this one alone. "Let sleeping dogs lie" and all that.

While "powerjon" and "powermelissa" may, indeed, be "car people" and have real project cars, the fact remains that "powermelissa" did a "cut and paste" posting on dozens of sites.

Jon, would you care to address the claims made on this site?

Although we may not agree with the marketing of this company,
let's not degrade women on this board.

1 word about sums this up BUSTED you tried to come in here under false pretenses, and while i might have not read all the reply's, i feel it's not needed, i guess sinistrv6 busted your promotinal attempt, I have spent thousands of dollars, just like all the guys here, and you better believe i only buy from vendors who have stuck it out with us, these vendors don't and probably will never get rich off of us, they do it cause like us were pretty crazy about our buicks. you say you are legit? maybe but i will never buy anything or even read anything your selling. you don't try to sneak in a place and then start doing what you do. , legitimate sponsors pay to do their advertiseing here they don't try to scam their way in
my advice to you keep moving on, you try to cover your tracks only after you've been busted, go to the viper forum you'll fit right in.

just my 2 cents. Great detective work Sinistrv6.

I think that I have addressed most of the concerns here promptly and efficiently.

As far as that site, if you read further, he tried to sue SEMA at one point.

We don't sell anything, and I have discussed with JayC the details. We posted some videos having to do with a dyno run competition (I'll let you guys do the detective work as to what dyno run competition it was), and the guy who runs spankmymarketer decided there was a conspiracy involved with Tenneco and ourselves. I assure you that we were not hired by Tenneco to do so, and our intent was to post a dyno competition and feature top cars from around the country. If it were a single person operation to post the video, i assure you, again, that measures such as these would not be brought up.

the scenario is equivalent to me putting my personal sponsor's sticker for my drift car on my motorcycle and someone saying "they can't market here. they make body kits for cars...not bikes."

JayC was close in summing it up, but rather, we run the servers and application, but the host site gateways to the host site's channel on the server. It works as a sort of photobucket idea for video. unlike youtube/ect, you can place all relevant material to the turbobuick channel rather than sifting through sand.

also, he failed to mention that most of the videos we post are just simple videos of exotics/domestics/imports doing donuts, wheelstands, or crashing. remember, there are always two sides to a story. some things are more appealing to flaunt and exaggerate than others.

if youre so anxious to make a reply without reading the rest, get off your high horse and start opening your eyes. as most of you have mentioned and what i have known, no one makes parts for buicks. I can try to sell you some used socks, but as I am not a big time driver, they are probably worth as much as the dirt under your feet. so..buy the nothing that i'm offering you. just my $.02.

So...

You nor Melissa is paid/employed by Tenneco nor any of the manufacturers that they represent?

Who DO you work for? You're definitely not Turbo Buick folks so you have some ulterior motive for being here.

Rich,

For the most part i felt it was the marketing ploy that was used that irked me once you let it out of the bag.

To come in a forum and say hi im so and so etc then race off to the next forum and say hi im so and so etc.

its not a good way to win friends and influence people..lol

We work with them soley to create video that they then embed on home sites. Our main stable is video production.

Our online application is a user driven program. We serve most user sites with google ads, as does myspace/youtube/ect. On certain user channels, we do serve relevant ads. Most are google based. These ads might buy us lunch once a week ... but the main idea is that maybe someone on this board, you (sinisterv6) for instance, will enjoy the program, and maybe suggest it to your chevy avalanche board, or vouch for the program.

Read this clearly i will say it one more time

why do you keep hijacking? first off, you control the english language as well as a 10 year old. secondly, my response was in dialogue with sinisterv6, who can handle a 'grown-up' conversation. He asked a question of which I have answered. You, sir, are the one butting in with your childish "look at me; I need attention" attitude.

I'm trying to establish the "food chain" here.

PowerTV works for Tenneco as an independent contractor creating auto-enthusiast related videos.

Tenneco (or is it PowerTV) embeds that video where, exactly? You say "home sites", does that mean sites like TurboBuick.Com - The World Wide Web under BOOST! - Buick Grand National, GNX, T-Type

Does PowerTV create advertising deals with the owners of the boards so that the embeded video can be added to their site?

You say it's a "...user driven program...". Does that mean that it collects data from searches and posts and presents relative advertising based on that data?

So the advertisers are paying you a little (by your own admission very little), so are the board owners paying you for the embedded video setup? Sorry, to seem so cynical, but I'm trying to figure out what's in it for PowerTV. You may have a legitimate product/service here but getting it in front of us motorheads under what seems like false pretenses is off-putting to put it mildly.

Hi.
I am Bryan, I am also a regular over at hotrodders. I followed a new link here and started reading this post.

Not sure if any of you have checked all there is to check over there, but, thought you may like to know:

The administrator at Hotrodders had never threatened to sue anyone!!!
However, he was threatened with lawsuits by The Discovery Channel.
This was I believe immediately before 'powermelissa' showed up on our board.

After the 'Spank my Monkey' episode, most all of the active members were very wary of newcomers----particularly when she started 'plugging' manufactures of go-fast stuff right out of the gate.

Always kind of leary about a new person that does not state in his introduction, that he is looking to learn something, or help someone else.

BTW---My name is Bryan----Bryan59EC on any board I visit.
My toys are
1959 ElCamino---454/Tremec TKO/4-wheel disc/AC/Tilt/PW
1966 ElCamino---307/PG (awaiting a Tremec as I type)

Did not mean to crash your forum, but that PowerJon is doing some blatant fabricating of the truth.

Bryan

I just hope the owner of Turbobuick.com and are moderators aren't falling for this. It pretty obvious these folks have been around on other boards and have very good marketing skills. I'm really surprised this thread is still going on to tell you the truth.

For the outsiders - The community here is very tight, and unless you have a legit reason to be here or offer are small community something legit, or for are cars for that matter.... You probably should not be here....

No pun intended, can we please just move on......

Raymond,
Honestly I think they had very BAD marketing skills and thats why they have been tossed out of every forum.

The Owner and Mods checked into this as posted on this thread. They either asked to see a package with no response or just politely declined then got spammed via email. and now they tried in this forum to basically spam.

The company in question is really just server side to host videos nothing worth raising any flags over but then theres some mess about all these puppet masters behind the scenes pulling strings which i could care less about.

As someone whos in marketing my prob was simple...it takes money to make money, you want to advertise then purchase a banner and if i am interested i will click on said banner and go have a look.
dont try and weasle your way through the back door to hock your wares.

Message boards are not for.....................
(hey guys I found a great site. Go check em out!) while maybe getting paid to post

And that started to become the issue on the other boards after they wiggled in, then the detectives started to follow the clues and now the jig is up.

I would like to see this thread die and for these people to just go away as well so if no one posts any more then this thread will slowly sink to the bottom of obscurity.

your grammer and language use still rivals that of a 12year old. i don't know how you can claim that you are in marketing, as the thought of you writing a proposal is laughable.

sinistrv6, i'm not twisting words here, and you shouldn't come to farfetched conclusions. my answer was straight forward as we create video production. what i meant by home sites, is tenneco's company sites; their company home pages.

we run our video application for free to board owners. this allows us to add user content to our video network. with more content comes more users from elsewhere, such as that of youtube or streetfire.

it looks like you've turned from a rational speaker to another conspiracy theorist. please don't be. I have mcasteel throwing out fodder by mashing on his keyboard at every post, already. we actually work for the government. heretic was built by auto fans the next solar system over. we are not alone.
