Good news for Chicago emissions

Bump to the smog forum if you must but it's pretty much a ghost town in there.

Anyways I'm in the middle of a busy night but I just remembered something that I've been meaning to post for a few days. I'm currently training to work for Toyota/Lexus and my instructor was gone 3 days last week for a Toyota regional training meeting, and when he came back he told us all some good news. Because of all the deals on buying new cars these days, the average car is only 5 years old, and the powers-that-be have decided that it makes more sense in $$$ to stop testing pre OBDII cars because there are relatively few of them on the road anymore. So starting Feb 07 they are done checking OBD1 cars basically anything older than 95.

I mention Chicago in the title of the thread, but I'm not sure if it's going to be all of IL as well.

Anyways sorry for the unclear details, like I said I'm actually in the middle of some work tonight but I wanted to post this before I forget again, and I don't remember 100% of everything my instructor said. But with Toyota being one of the must successful companies these days, I'm sure they have their finger on the pulse of what's going on and am fairly confident that this is 100% true info.

This was discussed on a Chicago racing forum, and it has been said that the bill hit Blagoivich's (sp) desk and was veto'd.
