Stranded in the desert? Use your cell to cook food...and your brain

Always wondered why the side of my head gets really hot after about 30 minutes on the cell. I never did trust these things. But naturally people will continue to use them for hours on end.

I've always known its cooking my head.
There was a realtor who died from brain cancer a few years back..they think the tumor was because of her cell. It was located behind her ear..right where the antenna was. They said she was on it all the time.

Personal cell phones have only been out for 20 years. They're cheaper to use now..so I predict a lot more 'casualties' in the future.

Bothers me when I see little kids chattin' away for long periods.

I had a boss die from a brain tumor several years ago. Much like the realtor, it was on the cell-phone-side of his head. I will add that was the pre-digital days, when analog was notoriously strong.

I showed my wife this article and it was met with the usual "Oh God now what conspiracy are you believing". It really worries me...how trusting she is, and the fact she is on the cell phone at least 2 hours a day. I refused to get one until a couple years ago when the cell company offered the 2nd phone for 10 bucks a month. Now Im on the phone maybe an hour a week, and the majority of that time is with the wife. Cancer runs in my family and Ive done alot to really really push it. Years of literal saturation in hardcore solvents and oils, (also breathing airborne antifreeze mist and solvent mist all day) breathing glass dust all day, coughing up blood, picking up smoking when I was 27, got pneumonia once, and bronchitis every month for about 3 years while working at that old job with all those chemicals. Probably alot of lung scarring that will turn to cancer eventually.
Word to you kids who havent smoked yet-
DONT EVER START!
Wanna look cool? So what. Dont do it.
Had your heart broken? Everyone gets their heart broken. Dont do it.
Looks fun? Go skydiving. Its fun and less risky.

Vaders, Most women won't understand the technical stuff especially if it may change their habits/lifestyle.

The cells put out RF(radio frequency)much like like microwave freq. It will cook your head. After about 10 mins. on the phone I can feel it.

I remember watching something on TV about base jumping. These guys climbed a cell phone/radio tower antenna and when they got to the top they had to jump fast because the fillings in their teeth were getting hot.

There's really nothing to worry about on modern phones as far as radiation goes.

I guess the thing to look for is the SAR, or specific absorbtion rate of radiation for different cell manufacturers and models. I have a Samsung SCH-A630, which isnt listed here, but it looks like all the samsung levels are relatively low. Also, it looks like the analog levels arent THAT much better than the digital ones. We also cant ignore the fact that all these people are getting brain tumors right where they used to hold their cells.

This egg thing was tested on mythbusters with I recall 100 cell phones all ringing one after the other piled on top of an egg. It didn't work.

Not to mention that the old analog phones used the 800mhz frequency range(microwave ovens are in the 2.4gig range), and newer phones operate
in the 1.7-1.9ghz range...I think I'd be more concerned with leaky Microwave oven RF, cordless telephones(also 2.4 and 5.8ghz) and all the 2.4gig Wireless Lan boxes out there....

The point I was trying to make was with long term cell use you are exposing the side of your head to RF often. Its the accumulation of constant RF to one area over time.

We are all exposed to RF all day..driving..walking down the street..leaky micro's etc. I'm more concerned about the concentration to one area. You go to the dentist and your only exposed to about 2-3 mrem's per X ray..so whats up with the lead vest?

Think about it...I'll be REAL conservative here. Only 5 minutes a day on the cell for 15 years = 27,375 minutes of exposure to one small area...thats 1,642,500 seconds. Remember 5 minutes is nothing per day..reality is these numbers go way up.

I actually had to climb a 1400 foot tower in the Big EZ for work, and they had to have the Radio station turn it down to 50% due to it will cook you.

Actually that only applies if your phone operates in the PCS band (1.9ghz). The 800mhz band is still used for virtually all cell phones in use in the country today. There aren't very many PCS providers, Sprint being the major player.
Although, all modern cell phones have the ability to utilize the 1.9ghz band if nothing else is available.
