My parents had to learn English and apply for citizenship to this country. Who knew all they had to do was sneak across the border in the middle of the night, evade taxes, and then expect everyone to accomodate them.

This topic really infuriates me. Did anyone notice the part of the article where a Hispanic rights group wants to send someone in to order in Spanish so they can try to sue Geno's?

I don't want to get too far off track and have someone think I'm a hater. Someone forwarded this to me during the same time as the Illegal imigrant protests which the mass media called "imigration rallies" in early May. I think it sums things up pretty well.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here
in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be
treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to
discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or
origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an
American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance
here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't
an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...
We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...
and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the
American people." - Theodore Roosevelt 1907

This is a cut and paste from a recent e-mail that I received....

Dear Senator McCain,

I'm about to plan a little trip with my family and extended family,
and I would like to ask you to assist me. I'm going to walk across
the border from the U.S. into Mexico, and I need to make a few
arrangements. I know you can help with this.

I plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration
quotas and laws. I'm sure they handle those things the same way you
do here. So, would you mind telling President Vicente Fox, that I'm
on my way over? Please let him know that I will be expecting the
following:

1. Free medical care for my entire family.
2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might
need, whether I use them or not.
3. All government forms need to be printed in English.
4. I want my kids to be taught by English-speaking teachers.
5. Schools need to include classes on American culture and history.
6. I want my kids to see the American flag flying on the top of the
flag pole at their school with the Mexican flag flying lower down.
7. Please plan to feed my kids at school for both breakfast and
lunch.
8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy
access to government services.
9. I do not plan to have any car insurance, and I won't make any
effort to learn local traffic laws.
10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo
from Pres. Fox to leave me alone, please be sure that all police
officers speak English.
11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my house top, put flag decals
on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want
any complaints or negative comments from the locals.
12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, and
don t enforce any labor laws or tax laws.
13. Please tell all the people in the country to be extremely nice
and never say a critical word about me, or about the strain I might
place on the economy.

I know this is an easy request because you already do all these
things for all the people who come to the U.S. from Mexico. I am sure
that Pres. Fox won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.
Your assistance in this matter would be most appreciated!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Johanna M. Stephens

I saw this story earlier

I wish more people had the guts to do this.

I was thinking about this yesterday, if these people are so intent on preserving their language and culture, why dont they just stay in their home country so they dont have to worry about it?

Yeah this **** is really ridiculous, we really need to stand up for ourselves when it comes to these immigrants floating in to our country and demanding things. The one thing that really gets me fired up is immigration

What Kills me is how they can buy cars, home & not speak a lick of english!

TRUE STORY HERE:
Last year one of the homes on our street sold to a mexican family or families. As I can't tell who lives there with all the cars I have seen on a daliy basis.

A young kid rings our bell & proceeds to ask my son if his dad (who doesn't speak english) can pick pears off our pear tree. I told my son (who called me at work) to tell them NO. I said they can take the ones that are on the ground.

My 1st thought was if this guy fell I would get sued.

I see this guy drive daily in his Ford pickup complete with flame decals & his name stenciled on the truck EMILE & MARIA. I wonder what would happen if he gets in a accident with someone how the would communicate?

I actually posted about this awhile back, as I saw someone who didnt speak any english get run over by a car. I was actually surprised that no one was around that could translate for the paramedics so I helped out. I couldnt help but feel embarassed for this injured girl that she couldnt communicate to anyone. She wasnt hurt too bad it seemed but I hope it gave her a wake up call.

Nice read and good for Gino's, we need more people like them. Funny how people are saying this doesnt represent Philly and other store owners, it should. My parents had to learn english when they came here in the mid 1960's. I was actually talking about this with him today, how he came here in 1964 with literally nothing, has worked so hard to learn english, become a citizen, biuld his own buisiness, try to fit in and make a better life for himself and his family, but now everywhere he goes all he hears is spanish or russian or chinese or whatever and again feels he doesnt fit in.

Geno's ya have a new customer here, tony lukes and everyone else who doesnt agree can suck it(and I was always a tony lukes guy )

that's my buddy Joe Vento.. I'm good friend with the family and I'm always down there. When I saw that I knew it was only a matter of time that someone would go nuts. But he's got more money then god so he said bring it on. He's got a huge team of lawyers and won't stop. He is the type guy that maybe you'll see a billboard on the roof with that saying next! Speak it or get the F out!

My grand dad did not speak a word of English but he was recruited by the US army and served in the war.
My uncle didn’t speak a word of English when he enlisted and served in the US army for 25 years.
So this thread is a perfect example of @!#$^%$&#$^
I agree with learning to speak the language but calm down.
But ……….AHH for get it.
Your Buick looks like a Monte any way, did it come in a SS model or just Regals.
By the way when you need your lawn cut you don’t higher a company that has all English speaking people. And I am shore you would never give your business to non English speaking people. Yeahhh BS when you stop selling your products and giving your business to non English speaking people Then preach this BS. Until then laterzzzzz.
