Need help with gas mileage.

So the wife is giving me a hard time about gas mileage on her 05 straight six trailblazer 4WD. She thinks shes getting 10MPG. . I really dont drive her car much but she wont stop complaining, and I know with only 10k miles or so the car wont need a fuel filter yet. I recently checked the air filter and that looks good, so before I put it into service for the mystery problem of poor gas mileage, has anyone tried those metal gadgets that go in the intake hose? Turbonator? Im thinkin of buying one just to shut her up. If it works then $60.00 is worth the peace of mind. Please help.

I would switch cars for a couple days and verify the mileage yourself before you dump any money into it.

Also, I doubt a 4x4 SUV will get any kind of decent mileage in the city?

I have a 05 envoy denali XL with the 5.3 2 wheel drive and get about 14.5 city. So even though you have the 4x4, you have a 6, it should be much better. My buddy have the trailblazer but 2 wheel drive and he gets about 16-17 city. Hope that helps.

Thank u

That did help. I talked to my buddies at the dealership and they said they could check and make sure everything is running properly. They also said that the "summer blend" of gas will decrease fuek mileage??? Sounded strange to me but what do I know.

Dont waste your $$$$ on the turbonator,it falls in same catagory as magnetic gizmo attached to fuel system. The law has recently cracked down on these claims.Havent seen them advertized lately. If its a 4x4 maybe front hubs are locked in,or have unlocking hubs installed.Car should be alittle better than what shes saying unless its a heavy foot.

I increased my wife's gas mileage by watching her leave the driveway. She was flooring the thing. I asked her to accellerate like she had an egg under her foot. MPG went up by 4. She was happy but missed the "zoomy" feeling. I bet you can chalk alot up to driving habits. I get passed by more women on the way to work than men so there is reason for suspicion.
