True story...should I buy it!!!!

A friend of mine in the towing business got a call to pick up a car for scrap....Actually his wife took the call...well he wasn't happy about it because it wasn't actually local to his area of business, but she told him to do it anyway since she committed to the man for the salvage job...and after the man explained the vehicle belonged to his brother who had just died. Well, "MIke" goes to do the tow job in a more affluent area here in Baltimore to discover that the "scrap" job is a garaged 1968 SS 327 Camaro with hide-away headlights. Mike was obviously floored and explained to the man that he would buy it from him instead. The man stated that he doesn't know much about cars, but that he knows the car is probably worth something, even then he states he doesn't need the money (affluent remember?), just get the car out of his garage. The car is all original with protecto plate, papers, and all the other associated goodies. The only un-original part is the paint job which was apparently that lung cheese green. "Mike" now has the car free and clean/clear and will not take anything less than 10k. The condition is great and currently, very driveable. Should I buy it fellas?

I would say if the car is all you say it is you could not go wrong with it. All depends on the condition.

If only I could be so lucky. A friend of mine had a similar story found a 60k mile 67 RS in original condition for 6k. The owner just didn't want it sitting around any more. My buddy filled the tank rebuilt the wheel cylinders on the spot and drove it home. For 10k and the car is in very good to excellent original condition, I don't really see how you could get hurt on this. Are there any rust issues?

Is it an SS or RS? I don't remember the SS being available with the 327. Nonetheless a solid 68 that runs and needs no hacking and welding for 10k is a deal.

To my knowledge SS's were 350's or big blocks..

It would be an "RS" if it is a true hidden headlight car.

Buy it if it's what you say.

camaro

The car only has 44k on the odometer...the car was originally owned by brother number 1, then brother #2 got it and then just passed away and brother #3 wanted nothing to do with the car. I was told the motor was a 327, but I have no expertise with historical accuracy with these. I'm gonna look more closely and get some numbers to verify historical accuracy this weekend. I looked at it in passing because I knew it was'nt gonna be in my garage...the almighty Mrs Hammer was gonna see to that , but now I'm thinking about jumping on it...I'll get some pics to tease you guys with

Buy it

Buy it. Maybe it is a 302......dare I say Z28.
Do not believe everything so called experts tell you. I have an all original x33 d80 car. That is Z28 with RS.
Cowl hood hideaways antenna in the back and all the trim upgrades. Additionally it carries both sets of emblems Z28/RS.
So many people don't believe mine is/was "possible" either. That is of course until they see it in the storage along with the GM documentation

Camaro

I'll buy it if you don't! My cell is 517 896 6900. I'll be in Indy all week planning the Horsepower Nationals so I won't be on-line, but now you know how to find me. Thanks!
