Gas skyrocketed in a night....

Well I went to go fillup today and I look around at gas stations and gas is now $3+!! I looked and the highest I saw was $3.65 for premium, But the average I saw was +-$3.25, this is getting out of control!! I dont understand how it went up overnight. Anyone else notice this?

Pensacola, Florida was just rated #1 for the price of gas per capita. Meaning we pay more as a precentage of our income than anyone else in the Nation. This was a study that was shown on our local news. Granted, we have had some local inflation due to the hurricane, but our prices aren't 3dollars a gallon. They study said Pensacolians spend an average of 12% of their income on fuel. Rediculous!!!!

OH why did I buy a 12mpg supercharged truck!!!

Jeff Where are you pricing gas at, dude? Cota De Caza? I checked everystation on the way to work this AM, as I do every AM on the way to work, and the least expensive Arco station that I saw for crappy 91 octane premium was $ 2.68. This is on Lambert off of Beach Blvd in Brea. Even at the high dollar stations which I do not shop at the highest that I saw was, I believe, $ 2.82 or so. However, it did seem to go up another $ .06 between this am and on the way home at 3:00 PM this afternoon. Does suck, though.

Aaron:
None of my business, but just curious, do you buy from the least expensive seller local to you, or do you just buy anywhere?
I know all of the cheapest Arco stations on my way to work, and there is generally about an $.08 difference from the least expensive of the "Cheap" Arco's to the average discount Arco's. I don't believe in driving miles out of my way for the least expensive gas, but I don't believe in buying where some smuck has a gun to my head, either. They're all crooks, but some are just a little greedier than others.

Gary,

I agree some are greedier than others, I stay away from some stations in the area because they can be more than several cents higher than average.
I use Chevron or Union 76 (usually the same places), they seem to have the best fuel aditives (they also seem to tend to pumps better than most). I never drive around looking for a better price. Most prices are just a few cents from one another. I don't use Arco or Beacon fuels, learned my lessons several years back. They are cheaper, but not worth head aches. I figure if I use 100 gallons per month and spend as much as $0.10 more per gallon at Chevron than I would at Arco, it would only cost me $10 in a month. Well worth it in my book for a fuel with better additives.

Aaron

Btw how is that white beauty? The WE4 should appear in the Feburary issue of Muscle Machine. I was told it will be a turbo issue.

The bad part is that everyone is still paying. No one has cut back since this spike in fuel prices. I own a diesel truck, us with diesel powered vehicle can't figure out way diesel is higher than gas. Diesel is less refined and is by product of gas.

The gas will hit $3.00 IMHO and there will be chaos in this country. Everyone will suffer. Exxon/Mobil profits were in the billions.

I think Bush has finally opened his eyes and signed that energy bill yesterday. But us comsumers won't see the trickle down effect for months, wonder why. The price could go up overnight but if it comes down, its months.

I believe the teamsters should strike and the price of fuel will come down.

This country has going to have a rude awakening in the next year or two. With all these mortgages that had first 5 years interest free and the interest kicking in, there are going to be alot of forclosures.

That would casue a bunch of problems. Medical supplies, car parts, games, computers, nothing would get delivered. That would cause a major problem. I would rather pay higher gas prices than have to wait months for a strike to work its way over so I can get parts that I need.

Maybe they should stop making 50 different types of gas for the 50 states and make one type of fuel for all states and just change for the climate. That would be way to easy so it will never happen. F george Bush

You were on the right track until you blamed it on the President. Lay the blame where it belongs, squarely on the shoulders of the EPA and the tree-hugging liberals who have given them so much authority. The President has ZERO influence on the price of gasoline.

BTW, it's $66/bbl for crude today and the worst predictions call for $74/bbl before Labor Day and $3.40/gallon for 87 octane at the pumps. Happy Holiday weekend!

I would have to agree with the F George Bush statement. I dont like politics because we all know it is all a SCAM. Why would this country allow extremely high gas prices? -----The wealthiest people in this country are the people who are cooperates of the gas industry---George Bush is one of these people. The goal of George Bush is to obsolete the middle class and have the lower class live on nothing while the upper class profits and lives like kings. There is nothing we can do now but I do wish this country would have done anything we could to get that selfish basta*d out of office. I didnt agree with all of Kerry's policies but somebody who would do even the slightest thing for the people of this country would be a whole lot better than someone who lives high on the hog and wants to stay that way no matter whos kids he kills or families he destroys. ------Jeremy

Exactly, then the fuel will go bad in the their holding tanks. Then they will think, $hit maybe we should lower the price to get rid of this stuff.

Then the politicians will get off their A$$ and do something because us lay people just b1tch and do nothing about it. If everyone had cut back a measly 5% of fuel usage, you'll see the price come down but we only b!tch about the price, lets do something.

The price will keep going up.

Wait until this winter, this price gouging is a set up for the winter. Homeowners with oil heat, get yourselves locked into a price contract now.

What gets me going that most of our fuel oil is brought in from Mexico, next is Canada not from Middle East. This NAFTA treaty really did us in.

It looks like the price of gas is going to be the same throughout the world. In Europe, its like $3-$4 a gal, those prices are making their way over here.

Oh yea, the barrel hit $66 then came down to $65.xx. Those Arabs have us under control, wheather we like it or not.

Lets be self dependant and screw the rest of the world. Then we'll see who comes begging for support. But we have all these loser enviromentalists crying about oil refineries. Open up new refineries for ourselves, get those off shore platforms going and take care of our own.
