Hey all... like many sellers, I am looking at alternatives to Feebay and thier new increases. While going through the discussion boards, I came across a petition to ebay to not raise the prices. In this petition, you could read responses left by people and I found:
www.bidville.com and decided to check them out along with all of the other sites I could find. I went to every site I could find to see what they had to offer and only bidville is any competition. They have millions of items... yes MILLIONS (not as many as feebay, but the prices are way cheaper). *You can IMPORT YOUR FEEDBACK from ebay! (so you do not have to start over) *There are NO INSERTION FEES! Only fees when you sell or upgrade your listing (upgrades are WAY cheaper than feebay) AND the fees you do get charged, are LESS than ebay's current ones - not to mention the new higher fees that ebay has imposed and will go into effect in Feb. *Thier customer service seems to be great from reading the forums there and, I think I read there is even an 800 number that will give you LIVE help! *The downside right now is, they are having server trouble due to the FLOOD of people going there. They have already said that they are working on fixing it as we speak. I have signed up there and will be listing items very soon. If you are a seller - you have NOTHING to lose to try them out! Since there are NO listing fees! So, the only way you get charged fees is when you sell an item (unless you choose upgraded listings (gallery, highlighted, bold, featured, etc. BUT no fee for the BIN ie. "take it now") Sorry about all the !! and CAPS, but I am really excited that another site is doing well... It is really worth checking out. Hopefully, eBay will lose it's sellers and the customers will follow... Tell everyone you know, email your past customers... We are the only ones who can make this fail and the only ones who can make it WORK... And if you are just a buyer - you should check them out just as much. Lower fees means lower costs to you. www.bidville.com Vic |

There are so many people outraged at the 4th price hike in as many years on FeeBay, that I think bidville will... I read from several different people that they put the same items on both and bidville got more hits and sells compared to FeeBay. Think about it, there are so many sellers on eBay to compete with - you can essentially get more exposure on a smaller site because of less competition. I really hope it takes off big.... I for one, am sick of eBay's BS and lack of customer service. We actually had an ebay rep question us as to how we got the # for live help - and then could not do anything to help us... FeeBay sets up a form letter for every style question and just responds with a bunch of BS links - I asked a question about a NPB recently and got an answer about store fees... For the fees, thier CS is a joke. When FeeBay/paypal ends up costing about 20% for fees and you are operating on a profit margin of 30-35... it is not worth it any more. Vic

Never heard of them before, but I'll definitely keep an eye on them.... Competition can only be a good thing for us
![]() I've sold a few things on e-bay, but haven't been too thrilled with them. The only way sites like Bidville can grow are to utilize them... try them out, sell a thing or two and see how it goes. Millions of sellers looking for better alternatives and finding them will have the near monopoly E-bay doing the nervous foot shuffle. I think E-bay considers themselve to be the only option, so they can pretty much charge whatever they want, but they'll find out sooner or later that they're wrong ![]()

Nice site with a ways to go. "Grand National" on ebay brought 633 items car and parts. 27 cars and parts on bidville. Let's face it. ..........how much does it cost to list an item on e-bay for world wide advertisement? Little guy is getting elbowed out.

Now, I can go to bidville, and take absolutely NO risk in trying them out and compete against just a few people in the same category. With NO listing fees - I have NO risk! We are only charged if something sells. The little guy is coming up, though and I would wager to see worldwide exposure soon, ie TV commercials. "Let's face it. ..........how much does it cost to list an item on e-bay for world wide advertisement?" about 20 percent of what you sell it for... Would you rather buy an item for $80 or $100? That's the short of it. The bigger thing to me though, is the customer service (or lack there of) on FeeBay. It is absolutely rediculous and outright unacceptable. I am going to start with common items on bidville and am forced to keep the less popular ones on FeeBay until bidville picks up in traffic. All the while, I am keeping my fingers crossed that it takes off. As well as doing everything I can to make sure people know about it! Vic

I know they have been having server issues due to the high volume of traffic. Try again. I have also heard of wagglepop.com being a future contender when they open in February.

New Stores for Ebay
Where have I been, but some people are creating a physical store location as an ebay drop off store and selling stuff plus ebay prices.
whatyagottoday.com OK, ebay charges too much, plus commission to sell!! Just learned this week, that there are 3 of these stores in my area, located near Appleton, Wisconsin. used for liquidating inventory, and stuff in houses that might be worth money?? later Brett

I too am tired of ebay price hicks, its almost a minimum $1 just to list any thing and then almost 10% of the selling price for them doing nothing requiring to pay someone so I don't understand the price hicks as they have very low overhead except servers, most of the features their programmers add I don't care for or don't need...waste of money IMO. Luckily I just finished cleaning out my garage of old TPI and truck parts I didn't need anymore.

If they put any effort in to thier customer service other than canned responses and links to thier policies, I would not be nearly as frustrated over the price hikes.
The service is a joke, and they simply do not care about it. They profited nearly a BILLION last year. That's NET revenues, not gross. Now they need more money for nothing more than increasing the size of the gallery pictures 50 something percent? That is basically the only thing that they have said they are changing. The time is ripe for a fledgling dot com to take an extreme amount of business from the giant. There must be a Goliath to spawn a David, without IBM and Compaq/Hewlet Packard, there would not have been Dell. Ebay peaked @ 118.38 on 12-29-04 Thier stock closed @ 82.70 today Nothing like losing 30% in a month... It will go back up, though. They are having a split on the 16th of Feb, and the price increase goes into effect on the 18th. Guess we will sit back and see who emerges from the dust.
