What kind of comments do you get about your GN?

I got my GN about a month ago, and man do I get A LOT of comments about my car. I'll be filling up gas, or just sitting somewhere and people will come up to me and ask me about it. People will say "Is it fast" ... " Nice car " ... " My friend had one like this, it was fast "... and lots of other stuff. A few days ago I was pulling out of a chinese buffet and these guys across the street were ona rafter about 10 stories up. They were revving their powertools like a car and staring at mine. They eventually motioned me to spin the tires, but they were working on a police building... Lots of people stare at my car too, it's pretty neat.. a lot better than people looking at my crappy Ford Escort because it's missing the front grille piece =/.

the comps are nice when the y happen especially the ones where people follow you into a parkign lot to ask you if its for sale and I get to say "Never" with a smile

Even had one smart guy at the pump ask me if that was one of thse fastest cars for the year it came out....I was shocked!!

I think it even caused an accident one time. Stuck in stop and go traffic on I75 and the truck to my left in the fast lane gets his next turn to move up about 8 feet and rearended the car in front of him just as he got even with me Kinda makes me wonder if he was maybe looking over at the time

Comment I've heard most often is:

"Wow, nice Monte Carlo"

And they built the damn things here....

The Monte Carlo bit is the most comon but ya'll WON'T BELIEVE what was said to me 2 weeks ago.

My car was on a trailer going to my buddies house and I pulled in @ the truckstop before hitting the big road.

As i'm fueling this trucker is heavily eyeballing my GN. Walks around and says: " what is that a Chrysler or Dodge???"

It's all I could do to keep from laughing in his face and I just say "naw, it's a Buick!"

trucker: A BUICK???

me: yeah

trucker: ah..nice car, never seen one of them before.

That was a 1st.

A DODGE, how can you POSSIBLY mistake a G body for a Mopar???

I've gotten lots of complements even in the relatively short time I have owned my car. There aren't any GN's that I know of in the area, but lots of people remember when the cars first came out and some of them even test drove one/contemplated buying one.

I think my favorite complement could have been right out of a commercial. I was stopped at a light and I had the windows down and tops off. I looked over to my left and there was a stereotypical Harley guy sittin' on a chopper and he said "Hey man that's a hot car, you don't see too many of those anymore" I just gave a big smile and said thanks. A second later the light changed and off we both drove. I think that is by far the most unique and memorable complement I've ever gotten.

I had this guy (he was drunk) come up to me at a gas station and tell me how fast my car was (like I don't already know) . He then asked me how fast I have had it up to. I told him about 80-90 on the street because Its not really to safe going any faster with traffic and such. He then tells me I don't have a hair on my a$$ as he staggers away. I go in and pay for my gas and when I come out hes bothering someone else. As I pull out of the gas station I yell at him. When he looks I pull out of the gas station sliding sideways. From the look on his face I think he wet his pants.

I was filling up at a gas station right off the highway one nite and a couple of guys pulled off the highway to give me props on my car. Never got out just pulled up and asked if it was a GN...told them yea, they said nice car and drove off.

Another time I was heading to a volley ball tournament and some guy in a 01-02 vert stang pulls up next to me and yells over "hey thats a real nice car you have...take care of it" I said thanks and drove off.

Most memorable is when I had it in the driveway working under the hood and my drunk white trash neighbor comes down...stands there...and asks me "this a monte carlo?" Told him no...its a buick. He said "Oh....can i get a cigarette from ya?" I looked at him and said I don't smoke. Guess he didn't notice the pack I had sitting on the radiator support :P

And of course there's always looks...all i usually have to do is look around and I'll catch people checking it out. Always a good feeling.

Most recent question:
Him:What you got in that thing.....a 350?
Me:No it's a V-6.
Him: Oh, Well it looks fast anyway
Me: It is.
Him: Huh?

I guess that is what adds to the folklore of our cars.

asian kid told me yesterday that the last GN he saw here in LA was 5 years ago and that i had made his day to let him stand so close next to mine, then he went on to tell me what my car should be in a museum, all i can say is, hold on to your cars because the really nice ones that survive 10 yrs from now will be worth a truck load of $$$$, mark my words i guarantee it.

Ya I get the same mentioned above.

But the best is my old man. Ive had mine for about 7 years now. He didnt know any better back then, hes not really into cars much. After talking to his buddies down at the bar and hearing about my compliments, he took it for a boot (when i wasnt around) and didnt say anyting after that. He likes it now, even though he wont admit it.

Aside from the usual comments, I usually get "No way thats a V6", or "Whers the nitrous?". No one around here believes a 6 can be this fast. Usually works to my advantage though. Its funny because I tow it with my 99 Lightning, and that truck gets all the attention. Its like the car isn't even there, and when I point it out, they are like "Oh, thats cool too", then go back to ogling the truck.

Thumbs up

I've gotten the "You should put a 350 in it" comment. Best response-- "Why would I want to slow down?"

"You should have gotten the GNX-- they were twin turbo cars"

Generally lots of complements, and some hoots and hollers, particularly when cruising through urban settings.
