With all the high performance cars out today it seems that the desire for turbo regals is going down. I hope not but I check ebay and this site often and it seems that these cars are not selling as fast and for the prices they once did. I could never part with mine but it seems others are letting them go for to little. Heck even Dennis Kirban is sellinghis personal test car #3 that was featured in his guide to turbo regals book.

"kshef": for nice ones the prices have gone up ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I agree wholeheartedly. I think that TR's in general are doing well. However, I think that the difference in value between the really nice, low mileage well optioned TR cars and the next runner-ups is widening with the really nice ones gaining in popularity and value noticably.

If most of the car that are up for sale were closer to CA, I guarentee they would be sold. Every time I see one that I really like, it's always to far away to obtain without any inconvience.
Also no one here on the west coast wants to pay an extra $1000 -1500 to get it shipped to them from the east coast, not unless they have money that is.... Just my 2cents As soon as I get my house here in CA, I guarentee I will have a couple more turbo buicks in the garage, mostly for investment purposes and my 86 TType will be used for all out racing. I agree with Kshef and Wells both. The ones we see coming thru for sale indicate this very fact. The cars are getting old enough now, there are those that are showing the use and wear. Those are the ones that the prices are going away on. The cars we see that are low miles, and cherry are selling fast and at much better prices than they were just a year ago.
If you have a low milage T-Type, GN, or GNX, park it in a garage, keep it clean, and you are really going to see some value added in the next ten years I think. Mark

You are right Steve, but I am sure there is some guy out there that used to have an original factory Cobra that wished he had kept it instead of making a more sound investment. lol

FWIW & IMHO:
I think that vehicles in general make poor investments. It is virtually imposible to speculate as to what will be collectible 10, 20, 30, or 40 years from now. For every person who bought a Cobra, Boss 429, Hemi Superbird, ZL1 camaro, Mercedes 300Sl gullwing, or whatever years back and made money, there is probably 50 people who bought other cars that they thought would be collectible and did not even get basic bank interest. The odds of speculation on this are probably considerably worse than Vegas. If you can buy a vehicle that you like, drive it for any length of time and not lose a lot of money, you are doing bertter than most. Also, I don't think that it matters whether you buy/collect cars, planes, boats, guns or mother-in-laws, they all make poor investments. Just my $.02 worth, and that taken before depreciation/cost of living suprises.

I think that right now the market for muscle cars is a little soft, but when I bought my GN, I was thinking long term investment/ something cool to drive and show. I really believe that in 10-15 years you will see the turbo cars value will be much higher than ANYTHING made in the eighties.

Re: Are turbo regals going down in value?
God, I hope so. Then maybe you guys will start driving your cars all the time and reveal the true mileage..........you know........add at least 100,000 to the 50K on your odometer.

FWIW & IMHO:
Umm, I think that the value of the late '80's TR'S is much higher than anything else made in the '80's now. '87 GNX '89 TTA hardtop '86-'87 TR'S '89 TTA t-tops I don't think that anything else in the '80's matches the prices paid for these cars. Just my $.02 worth (before taxes and depreciation). or less. On the american manufacturing/production market, anyhow. However, I really do not remember when the 1st vette zr1 was. If it was 1st manufactured in the late '80's, it is reasonably collectible and pricey, but not to the extent of the GNX, I don't think.

As Stated above...I feel the value of our car is going to increase between the 20-25 year old age mark. "Why?" GM parts inventory will start to dry up, and the desire for a showroom clean, stock, car will be in demand.
Will the Buick GNX be the Yenko/Copo Camaro of the 80's? Will they sell at Barret Jackson for big Numbers? Noone really knows as the value on these cars have been a rollercoaster in the past few years. You have GNX's selling for $13,000-$50,000.....GN's selling for $5,000-$30,000, and TTA's selling from as low as $7,000 up to $22,000! Sure will be interesting to sit back, and watch history in the making once the 'values' settle, and they become 'old'. Buy a car as an investment? Some people like to 'see' their money rather then look at it in a bank account!

During the recent Barrett-Jackson auction, Brock Yates mentioned the only collectable car of the 80's is the Buick turbo. Hemmings also feels these car are under valued and are a good buy. From my perspective, invest wisely and drive want you want!

I believe mine is...87 T-Type...because it has a salvaged title. If it wasn't for that maybe my T would be like a 5 to 7 thousand dollar car...still needs some work but looks good from 10 feet away..
