Unless I'm mistaken Paper clip method doesn't work on OBDII.

I suppose I did not. Maybe it's because I'm too poor to afford a car newer than 94(newest one being a 93 GranAmGT) and never encountered the new system
 but hey at least my paper clip works on my cars

Well I know on the Dodges with a digital odometer, if you turn the key ON..OFF..ON..OFF..ON it will display the trouble code on the odometer. I am sure there are other vehicles that it can be done just as easily.

Chris, it only reads & clears the codes.
If you leave it attached longer than the 4 cycles if flashes the codes will clear. Pretty handy item for short $$ Works on everything except SUBARUS & Volkswagons (WHAT ARE THOSE ANYWAY )
