Check out this amazing auction (serious)

When I was a kid (and basically for the rest of my life) There were always rumors about this old Autoparts/hardware store/bar.
since I've been alive, it was never really "in" business and no one really went there anymore but, it was always said, if you needed parts for old cars, this was the place to go.
Apparently, it was an auto parts store in the early 1900s and became a hardware store/bar later on...
The rumors also always talked about the old cars that were hidden in the building...no one really believed it...it was a run down old 2 story building - rickity and unkept and definitly wasn't big enough to hold much...Especially a bunch of old cars...
A few of us had stopped in asking about them and he always denied having any cars. (kinda a grumpy ol' guy, if ya know what I mean)
WELL -
They found the owner (78 years old ) dead this past month and THE RUMORS WERE ALL TRUE beyond anybodys imagination.
They are auctioning his "estate" this week end. I stopped up to it for a preview - it'is absolutly mind boggling.

Here is a link to some pictures of what they found inside the building: http://www.biddersandbuyers.com/ads/101803gaule.htm

Realize, most of these pictures were taken inside the building before they moved anything (not the out door ones) it has now been moved into 2 Warehouses waiting for auction.
When I first walked in to the auction site, all I could think was OH MY GOD - the shear number of items is beyond comprehesion. There were things there (especially the cars) that I had seen only in drawings (they are that old). He had a collection of everything...
It was like walking through history...literally. This stuff should be in museums (and I'm sure some of it will be)
All in all, it's sad really...this guy collected stuff his entire life...for nothing. He never married...the entire estate went to his sister, she has instituted the auction. Just goes to show - You can't take it with you...

That is incredible! I love that Harley. If I inherited all of that, I really don't think I'd be able to sell. Not the cars & toys at least. I'd have one heck of a garage setup. I wouldn't be able to part with them.

The main auction is over...I didn't stay long, had other things to do but one of the old cars went for $9000.00 and the harley went for

$80,000

wow...any way, it's weird to think that the Harley is 90 years old and unrestored. I wouldn't say it was mint but, not far off at all.

The most amazing thing is all the cars were unrestored originals.
The auction was a circus...there had to be 1000 people there...
