chris718?-sometimes shifts hard, sometimes shifts soft?

Depending on the day, my tranny is shifting either very hard (like its supposed to) or very soft. For two weeks now its been an on and off thing. It's a 2004r i think its a 2800 stall lock up converter, with a small tranny cooler, and a shift kit at the least. Sorry I dont know more about it, I just got the car. Its really weird how nice and hard its shifts the one time you drive it, and the next time you drive it, it shifts very soft. Is it starting to go? Or does something need to be adjusted or checked? I changed the fluid and it was old and dark along with the filter. I put synthetic in and it still does the same thing. Any ideas?
