Is there a difference in the cases of a 2004r lock up and nonlock up?

Hey, My trans case is srored from the band piston failure. I need a new case. Is there a difference in the case from lock up and non lock up? Are they both still called 2004r. Thanks, Steve

All 2004r transmissions were lock up from the factory and even when they are converted to non lock up the case is not modified. You arent talking about a 200 3 speed are you?If so there is a lock up and non lock up unit. The non lockers had a vent on the extension housing area.

Thanks chris. Do you know what the difference is in a brf case. If my internals are from a non brf can they be used in a brf???

Hhhmm thought all 200-4R's were Chevy/Buick/Olds/Pontiac? No? What about the BRF 200-4R trannies our TR's came with? Do they have a Chevy bolt pattern also?

Of course trying to run a number is fine if that is what you want to do but beware if you walk on the edge sometimes you fall off.

Thanks. Were there any cars besides a Monte/Malibu/Elky that came with the multi bell 200-4R?

Most all 2004R's I've seen have the Uni-Bell case. Some early 80's had BOP only. Saw a Pic a while back of an early 80's Chevy only case but can't find it now.
