PICS of a "ballooned" converter anyone?

The AC converter I have ,we pulled from my buds car as he was rebiulding from a thrust failure in the motor...How can I tell if the converter was the culprit?
Can you tell by looking at the converter it self?

I just called about a rebiuld and anti ballon plate was mentioned..

I have an old Chettah with an ex AR of .82, was considering toying with this combo, pretty much since its all I have for the moment..

Thanks

Here is how

to measure a converter. Overall length of a converter is measured from the top of the converter pump hub to the mounting pad surface. Put the converter pump hub side down on a flat sureface then measure to the top of the mounting pads.

200-4r converters should measure 5.855 to 5.905

If the converter has indeed ballooned, you'll be taller that 5.905 by a bunch.

Well I am thinking I am within the limits you mention..I was getting between, 5.875" and 5.925" , but my method to measure was iffy, hard to get it very square..
How much would a ballon measure?
Thanks

That's

Acceptable. When a converter balloons it's pretty major. You'd see probably upwards of 5.7'' , but it sounds like this is a 200-4r app, and i have to say that i've never really seen a converter balloon on a 200-4r/700-r4 application.

Hi Mike, yes its a 2004r art carr converter...I'm guessing you meant a bigger number than 5.7"?
Thanks

Haha!

I got caught sleep typing. Yes, you caught me. I ment to say 6.0'' or bigger. but anyways, i haven't seen a converter balloon in a 2004r/700r4 combo, even in the most poorly built examples of converters i've seen.
