Decision Making Temporary setup ???

So I will try to keep this short..Basicly the last time I owned a TR i dabbled in my own tranny work..The last tranny worked I was very happy, it was a BRF.

I have since sold, have a young family some 5+ years later. I came in to someone else's part carfor free a pretty bad 86GN t top car..Sucked me right back in...lol

So now I am knee deep in it..Decided the 86 body was too bad to work with, found me an 84NA in pretty good shape for cheap. I have 109 longblock ready to go in, front end is apart being cleaned up and painted,..frame suspension, firewall..all that good stuff..

Now the tranny part..As I have mentioned in some other posts I had some tranny parts and a 2/3 core left over from my last tour..
Along with that a D5 converer marked "blue Streak" and a Art Carr non lock up "AC16930"
I was hoping to biuld the core up , you know pretty much stock style, with possible upgraded frictions, pump mods, and servo..

figured i could worry about vb/gov later..much later like maybe next season, or later and still have a working tranny in it..not too concerned bout WOT shift pooints in a short term situation, that can be changed with a vb/gov swap...be nice if i could cruise with it, move it , that sort of thing..

so here is what I have, older pump(think its from the AA), KCF core, (think tha kcf pump went for a pump core exchange years back), .500" boost, .376" boost, and a 377 or 270 depending on where you measure the reverse...a 10 vein rotor , and a BRF gov..some odd springs leftover as well..

Not really sure what I am asking, kinda thinking out loud if any wants to jump in..
Obviously this is on the cheap, trying to do as much as I can myself..I was hoping to do the pump and servo well, so I dont have to drop again, but that may not happen. I did find in the middle of trying to make this post a decent late model front pump half...

Thanks for any input

I think i would find a complete core to build. You will probably end up having alot of problems with mix matching parts.

I can see where you might introduce probs by mixing in parts but it sounds like you have some experience building. If you have more time than money it seems like a good plan to get it back onto the road.

I'd do it just for the challenge. No telling what you might learn.

Thanks for the response guys,
chalengermike, I am definately keeping my eyes peeled for a core, just kinda waiting for the right deal to pop up..Either way, I most likely will be doing a overhaul regardless of calibartion. As far as I see it , taking care of the trans overhaul minus the valve body shouldnt be a waste of time.
TexasT, thanks for the support. The thought to try and get a non perf tranny to shift right has crossed my mind. I dont plan on mixing things up just yet.lol, will keep the VB with the gov and all that good stuff..If I am correct in what I have been reading, I can still get this thing to shift firm enough but the shift points will be way off. ANd by that time if a vb/gov combo comes up great, if not I may consider tinkering.

I'd hit a couple of your local recyclers and see what I could turn up for cheap. The Cadillac AA is purported to be a good core. I was able to score two for around $100-125 each. They're out there.

Hopefully Found a CZ

Well, just put a deposit on A CZ trans to be pulled..I verified a yellow ID tag with the letters CZ at the bottom. this tag was a little shorter and was mounted vertically as opposed to horizontal.like the BRF and KCF I have here.Hope its the goods..
does this sound right, i will look up some pics in a search..but no doubt it was labled CZ

Thanks
