Angry P/N/R/D/D/2/1 Linkage

The linkage cable keeps falling out of the “C” bracket that bolts to the trans. I cant get the car to shift thru the gears because this cable assembly keeps falling out of the “C” bracket. How do I fix this?

Replace the clip that holds the cable to the bracket. Make sure your not putting the clip on backwards.

head for ther Help! section of your fasvorite parts store and get a new clip for it. it will be very hard to install- which is a good thing.
also, make sure the cable housing is on the back side of the hole in the bracket, so it pushes against the bracket when going from "P" all the way down to "L1". if you put it on the other side, the cable housing will just slide forward when you try to shift out of park.

I tried the HELP! rack earlier this year - couldn't find any. Autozone told me they don't stock them anymore.

The dealer can still get them, though. And yes they're hard to put on, which is the way it's supposed to be.

I bought 2 just in case I lost one...and promptly lost the spare.

I don't. Just call the dealer and they'll look it up.

i've seen them in the Help! rack at auto parts stores, but they are listed as a brake hose retainer clip and come in a variety pack with 4 or 5 different clips. i've never looked anything like that up by application- i just look thru the section and find what i need. it is a common clip- the same clip that holds the shift cable in place is also used on brake hoses on a lot of cars.
skip the Autozones and other flashy stores like that and go to a NAPA or CarQuest and find what you need.

GM does not carry the part anymore. Per GM most obsolete parts can be found here...https://www.vpartsinc.com/
