Use grade 8 flat washers to take up the clearance.
The converter height should be 5.855-5.905. This is measured with the pump drive hub down on flat surface. The measurement goes from the flat surface to the top of the mounting bolt pad. Converter to flexplate clearance {with the converter all the way in the pump should be 1/16'' to an 1/8''th. Mike. Com'on nothing in TB is a bolt on {lol} ![]()

I'm having the exact same issue with my Pats 10 inch 3000stall. I thought that it was the combo of a new JW flexplate and the Pats converter, but I guess this is a more common occurance than I first thought. It mentions that this might have to be done in the instructions that came with the converter, but it seems like a cheesy way to do it. I'm worried that the bolts won't go deep enough into the converter for strength issues. I'm looking for some slightly longer converter bolts, if anyone knows where to find some longer replacements, you might want to do the same.

I'm pretty sure my bolts are bottoming out in the converter not allowing it to pull it forward anymore.
ARP will sell them. I think TA offers them as well from ARP.

I just put mine back in a the bolts were bottoming out. I put thin washers in there to get it to pull up tight.

When I installed my Pats converter last summer, I ran into the same thing. I called Steve, and he said there should have been washers/spacers in the box, which there were none. I ended up using some flat washers to cure the problem as well. Seems to be a common occurrence with this converter.
