What else is needed when going to the billet input shaft, I heard it's not just the shaft you need to change out making it more $$$??

Unhappy

I called late also about the Billet Shaft Drum & Input Shaft Then had to go out of town to work. Got back in time to see a twirly tornado take trees, rear deck and the right corner of my house off on Mothers Day. I guess I'm lucky I tho' it didn't take me & the whole house & hadn't spent the money on parts. LOL! I'm sure my deductible is going to eat into my reserves. Man broadcast TV sucks, my dish was mounted on the back of my deck.

Chris,

I read somewhere that a billet input shaft would have a 25% chance of breaking the OD carrier, and a 50% if you used the billet OD on a stock input shaft. Or something along those lines. Infact I think it was in one of your posts. What this all about?

I also have your billet forward drum, your manual and instrucitions say you have to cu the shoulder down alittle for correct fit, no matter if you use the billet or stock shaft...? Whats the reason for this? And why would you still have to do it if you have both new billet parts

Could you clear this up?

Pretty sure you dont need anything special to run the billet input shaft. However, I think you should run the little upgrades (band billet servo etc.), a hardened sun shell, hardened stator, and a billet forward drum before you consider a billet input shaft.

Ah, I see what my trans guy was saying about the input shaft, it was along the lines of what you said Warrant in that you'd probably want to do other stuff since he's going to be in there.

I got Chris's billet forward rum and have other upgraded tranny stuff. I'm on the fence about the billet input since I'm still on the TA49 though I'm going to the Stageright brake and 3.5" aluminum driveshaft.

Oh... You'll be off the fence soon enough. Listen to the good advice that they are giving you. Nothing more frustrating than to put money and time into something, to not go all the way, and be right back where you are now, broke down later, for the lack of a few simple "now is the time to do it parts."

YOU know what to do, justitfing it to the WIFE is the HARD part. Selling that can be tricky... LOL

Our drum has added material around the area where the shaft pilots into the drum. This matrial make the bore in the pocket taller than the original but greatly adds strength to this area as well as a generous radius between the 2 areas. This makes it necessary to trim the end of the shaft so it doesnt bottom out on the i d of the drum. Some people use the input shaft with the stock forward drum so cutting off the pilot isnt necessary.
