TH200-4R rebuild
Hello!
I recently lost reverse gear so I probably need a rebuild. Oil level is at max, TV cable moving freely. So it's the low/reverse clutch pack? It still has forward gears. When all was working there was a couple second delay and a whining sound when switching into reverse. Right now only the whining sound is left. The TH200-4R is behind the Olds 307 and I was planning to do a low budget rebuild with some selective upgrades (Murphy Automotive on eBay): 1. Super Master Rebuild Kit 2. 13 vane pump kit 3. Sonnax .500 TV boost valve Am I on the right track or am I completely lost? I was also thinking of a Transgo shift kit (the one around $30). Basically I need vital parts to keep the transmission going for a long time behind that not so mighty 307. |

2004r rebuild
A good stock rebuild kit from poston or autozone will do fine up to 450 hp with heat treated sun gear shell and stator support. The shift kit and boost valves would be a plus..If you have less than 450 hp,go with stock kit with a few up grades like the ones I mentioned to include 10 vane pump, wide band, and super servo.

Right now I'm in the middle of a rebuild and came to some questions.
ATSG manual says that there are no wave plates in the direct clutch pack (assembly part doesn't mention wave plates to put in) and two wave plates in the forward clutch pack. When I disassembled my tranny there was one wave plate in both clutch packs. So which is right? Are there differences from year to year? Tranny has been opened up before, not by me though. I have new Raybestos clutches and steels. Do they pack extra plates just in case or am I supposed to use all of them? As I said I'm in the middle of the rebuild and I've done low/reverse, direct and forward clutch packs. |

Ok, got my answers from here: 200R4 Rebuild
And no reverse was caused by worn low/reverse clutch pack and/or blown low/reverse apply piston seal. |
