Grommet in tv cable hole

Does the small grommet in the case where the tv cable goes in,absolutely have to be there>?I tried like crazy getting the tv cable in with that in place and it wouldnt go in the transmission.not the easiet spot to get at.

Yes, it needs to be there. I swapped trannies out before the Norwalk race afew years ago, and didn't realize the TV grommet stayed in my old tranny, and the other one stayed on the other TV cable. I couldn't figure out why my car had a huge puddle under it everytime I sat in the staging lanes. I wrapped a towel around it so I could run, but eventually got kicked out.

87 WE4-factory radio delete, pwr windows, rear defrost, pwr antenna, that's it! Runs on used parts and stuff I found in my uncles back yard. Now that it runs I'm tearing it apart

...and a 93 T/A- Well optioned but definitely not a whole lot of Pontiac Excitement there.

soon to be joining in- 88 shelby z 5 spd 2.2 intercooled w/ttops

Kinda figured it needed to be there but didnt realize itd make it leak like that,thanks for the info
