Chris, I was looking thur your site at all the trannys you offer and I have a question. I know the 700 is usually stronger than the 200, but the one that I really want to ask about is the 4L80E-2/MA. I know that this thing is a MAN of a tranny especailly after you guys get thur with it. The price is the same as a stage 2 200 on your site but what all would it take to make it work in our buicks? I think I read somewhere that somebody had one in their car and it works great with no more failures like the 200r4 they were running to start with. I think my tranny might be toost right now so I am starting to look around for what I am going to do thanks Daniel Ray

I Had The Same Question...... Why Go 200 When You Can Go 4l80? The Price Seems To Be About The Same? Which Would You Prefer Chris And Why?

Brett I called Chris and talked to him on the phone. Thats probley why he hasn't answered here yet and he was really busy. He still took the time to talk with me , super nice guy!!!!!!!!!! He said that you also have to buy the stand alone computer for the tranny which is another 900 bucks and then a convertor. Think it was about 4 grand when its all said and done but it should be in there for a LONG time!!! Daniel Ray

But you can go with a manual valvebody and ditch the computer controller to save some cash.

U cam run VSS, rpm and TPS from the original computer to a later model TBI computer to act as a controller from the 4L80E.

People have done it and if your savvy, you should have a trans controller for about $200, whtever it takes to get the harness bits, the definition file and the tbi pcm.

I am trying to decide which tranny to go with behind my Stage II, right now I am planning to go with a maxed out 200 but I don't know if it is the right thing to do or not, I definately want an overdrive transmission though.

O, OK DAN. KOOL. YEA, CHRIS IS VERY HELPFUL AND NEVER BLOWS PEOPLE OFF. HE IS A TOP VENDOR AND WE SHOULD BE HAPPY TO HAVE HIM. A WELL BUILT 200 APPEARS IT WILL COST JUST ABOUT THE SAME. I KNOW THE 4L80 IS HEAVIER BUT IT SEEMS TO WITHSTAND QUITE A BIT MORE HP SO IM NOT SURE WHY ANYONE WOULD OPT FOR A 200 WHEN LOOKING TO GO INTO THE 9'S AND PUSHING THE HP ENVELOPE.... IT'S JUST SUPRISING THAT NOT MORE PEOPLE OPT FOR THAT TRANNY. I GUESS FOR THE STREET ITS NOT AS CONCERNING BUT PEOPLE SEEM TO REBUILD THE 200 QUITE A BIT WHEN PUTTING DOWN BRUTAL HP SO I WOULD THINK THE LOGICAL THING TO DO WOULD BE GO WITH THE 4L80.
