TH400 speedo gear change ?

How do I get to the TH400 speedo drive gear to determine the color of the speedo "drive" gear . so I can replace the "driven" gear with the correct one ? do I have to remove the trans tail piece ? or how about how I do change the speedo gears ? thanks.

You only pull out the speedo gear adapter and change the gear on it for the driven gear. You have to pull the end off if you want to change the drive gear. You will need your tire size and gear ratio to figure out the ratio. Most speedos are based on 1000 rpm @60 mph, however there is a calulator on the web some where.

so to ONLY change the "driven" gear I do not have to take the tail end off ? and I can see what color the driven gear is without taking the tail end off ? I was told that you had to pull the tail end off to do ANY gear change . see link below for calculator.

Got it norbs ! the "driven" gear is a 35 tooth . hard to make out what the "drive" gear is . the color is fadded and you can not make the count . at least knowing the "driven" I will be able to figure out the correction if needed . I just have to find a cop with a radar gun this spring or one of those unmanned ones. that should not be to hard .thanks .
