3-speed and 4-speed shifter differences
Anyone know the differences between the 3-speed and 4-speed auto shifters?
Are they identical except the 4-speed has an additional notch? Like this? P R N D 2 1 P R N O D 2 1 (low 1 extra notch?) Or are they different in another way? I wish I had both to compare side by side but I don't. Reason for asking is... I'm switching from bench to buckets on a V8 Regal. I have a 200R4 shifter. I don't want to spend the extra time or money finding / buying an early 80's 3-speed shifter for my THM350 trans if I can use the 4-speed shifter. PS: I have a 3-speed indicator plate for the console top. Last edited by 323GTX : May 15th, 2006 at 01:27 PM. |

the 4 speed shifter should work fine with the 3 speed trans.

Here is the 200R4 auto 4-speed shifter...
![]() I'm assuming the 3-speed auto shifter in a Regal/Cutlass looks like this? ![]() Or is there something I'm overlooking? Last edited by 323GTX : May 18th, 2006 at 12:11 PM. |
