Question lock-up converter in non-lock tranny?

I just had my tranny rebuilt and cannot afford a new converter at this time. My old converter seemed fine but their was some small debris in the pan. I am little worried about putting it in my new tranny. I have a new D-5 laying in the garage, I was thinking of putting it in until I have my 10" non-lock up rebuilt, or buy a new converter. Will this work? I know you cannot run a non-lockup in a tranny set up for lock-up, but what about the opposite?

It depends on what modifications were made to the pump...

but you may wind up with a situation where the converter tries to lock at all times. Consult with your tranny builder.

Thumbs up

You're right, he said it was not a good idea. I am going to go ahead and use my old converter. I think with the small amount of stuff in the pan it should be OK.
