torque converter locking and unlocking problem
hey guys
i just put a fresh rebuild back in my 87 gn i went with a rebuild kit from ck performance. new clutch packs heavy servo ,new tcc solenoid, etc. at 40 to 60 miles an hour while cruising the torque converter will lock up as low as 40 miles an hour and at any speed above that once it locks in the minute i let off the gas it unlocks, then as soon as i apply the gas it locks in again . as you can imagine in stop and go traffic and in 45 mile an hour zones this is not good . it is constantly in and out of lock up. anyone have any ideas i would be grateful. and yes i am going to give chris at ck a call mon morning, but would like to have an idea what is happenig thanks john |

Is it an electronic or mechanical problem. If you apply the brake slightly does the problem go away? Maybe its the chip commanding the lockup to occur. If you have access to a direct scan, you can monitor when lockup signal happens.

If you're letting completely off the gas, it is normal for it to unlock. Anytime you're in OD and the the TPS drops below 3%, it is considered coasting and it will unlock.
