700r4 filter use?

R.A. used to reccomend using a 700r4 filter in the buicks. He said as long as you put a piece of hose over the 4th gear switch to keep it from grounding out. Is there any advantage to this or not? Looking at the filters it would seem the 700r4 would be better with the pickup on the bottom.

Also
How tight in the bores should the 1-2 and 3-4 accumulators be? They seem pretty tight with the new seals as compared to how they were when I originally took them apart.

I was in a hurry I guess and typing the wrong thing in the search feature. This has been covered numerous times. Sorry to be beating an old dead horse.
