Thumbs up zues1's - 86' GN first track passes

Well my buddy (zues1) took his daily driver 1986 GN to the local 1/8th mile track last weekend. He drove it 40 minutes to the track with his wife and son with the slicks in the trunk. (running with Stock GN rims in the front and steel rims with 26"x9" slicks in the rear) Got there and this was the out come of ONLY THREE PASSES!

Maybe he will chime in with the exact numbers on the time slips.

Turbo - 6132
60lb inj
Alky control
GEN II
Power logger
3" DP
Pat's converter
EVERYTHING else STOCK!!

FIRST PASS:
17-18psi Boost = it went a 8.35

SECOND PASS:
20psi = it went a 7.97

THIRD PASS:
10psi off foot brake
Spun off the line = 1.75 60'
22psi = it went a 7.87

Not bad droping 5 tenths in just two passes with just a little tweeking! There is still ALOT more on the table as this was with the GEN 2 all at base settings!

And then drive the car 40 minutes back home and the whole trip (there & back) only used a 1/4 tank of gas!!

GOOD JOB MAN!

Scot W.

Thumbs up

This is the results from last night (8/8/08)!! Going from 8.35 down to 7.56 ( 8 tenths!) in only 5 tuning passes! More left!

1st Pass
60' - 1.89
330'-5.19
594'-7.48
1/8 ET = 7.92 @ 88.04

2nd Pass
60' - 1.73
330'-4.96
594'-7.18
1/8 ET = 7.68 @ 91.07

Last Pass
60' - 1.66
330'-4.86
594'- 7.07
1/8 ET = 7.561 @ 91.260

His goal was for this car to run 7.50's. HE IS THERE!!! and it only took 5 tuning passes to get it there!

GOOD JOB MIKE!

Way to go guys!!!!!! That launch shot is cool. A right rear air bag with about 10# in it would have kept the car level and probably helped even more.

Sure looks like it's hitting hard for all the underpinnings being stock.

Good Work!!!!

Adam i'm looking into the reynolds trip. PM me or call when you figure out the accomodations.

Thanks about Mike's car! It was a team effort between Mike, Donnie & Myself.
There was alot of money spent on it in the past that all had to be changed. Everything that was bought was either returned or took off, The tune was put into it after all those new parts was completely removed & the base re-set by turbodave (It was WAY out in left feild!). It was then just locally driven around like that for a year and Mike recently decided to take it to the track to see where it was. That was when Donnie & Myself showed up and helped Mike achive his year long goal. I feel there is still a bunch of room left in it. But he's leaving it alone (which is good! ) and now we are moving onto his caged car to see where we can get it to before installing the fresh engine sitting in his garage.

Not sure, I will let mike explain what the plans for the caged car is..

For now I think the plan is to see just how much we can get out of it with leaving it just the way it was purchased. By doing this we will learn what the car likes as far as the launch for right now. By doing this, it should also show what it will need in the future for suspension upgrades.

But I will make another thread when we start testing on the caged car..
