    Guys,
I have a 4 inch bore stage II with aluminum stage II heads. The motor have FP 1026 gaskets but I thought cause the smaller bore the 1000 might be a better. I read somewhere that the 1000 has a steel ring for steel heads and the 1026 is copper for aluminum heads? I can't verify this as summit both list them as steel.

Which should I run? Is there something even better to use?

    Thx

The 1000 gasket has the steel ring in it and isn't intended for aluminum heads. Don't remember the correct one though.

The FelPro 1026 has the copper ring and is made for up to a 4.090 bore with aluminum heads. TA also has them as part # V1723B which are FelPro 1026's. They have 14 bolt holes.

If it makes you feel any better, I use the 1026's w/4" bore and just inspected them after a few 35# dyno pulls and they look like you could resuse them(I didn't).

I've used 1026's in both Stg 11 motors I've owned, Al heads, never a issue. They always looked like new any time I ever removed the heads. The 1007 Fel-Pro also has a copper O ring but the heads require a receiver groove. 9.30's at 145.

    Rick,

I've always used the 1026 head gaskets and never had a problem.

Contact Nick at ArizonaGN. He's got the right head gaskets for the 85 and earlier cars.:) He's also a vendor.

I can't say for sure if they are Felpro 1000,s, but I would bet they are. The price is only 5.00 more than Summit gets for the 1000's. Order a set and then you will know. They are for iron heads only.
