There is plenty of them out there so finding used isn't too difficult. That intercooler was one of the best deals out there. Lighter than other front mounts and works well into the mid 9's.

Honestly, the RJC, Cotton, and several others outperform it anyways from what I have seen. The PTE SLIC is a proven piece though and the best SLIC for our cars.

Plenty of Chinese cores out there to replace it with.

That's most likely what happened. Harry got tired of competing w/ the Ebag junk.....

Not under 800hp. I've yet to see any front mount intercooler work as well as a precision and weigh as little as it does comparatively.

Any idea on what makes them so much lighter? Lower fin count? Thinner?

Not happy about it either. I love mine but a have a busted pipe and one of the mounting ears broke off. I was looking for a replacement last week and saw that it is no longer made. Bad news.

Easy to repair. PM if you can't find a local fabricator. It's just aluminum. Any talented TIG welder will be able to fix it. That's the cool part about metal fabrication.......if you cut it too short, just weld on what you need. Can't do that with wood. Though, I have a buddy that claims HE can weld wood. (and if you saw the welds he does, you'd believe it.):)

PTE had list price at or over $900. They had it on sale for $699 a few times over the years, I bought one at that price and it's still in the box :( BUT I sanded and polished the bare aluminum pipes and I hope to install it all someday LOL. The core size is smaller than some of the more recent front mounts, but you can tell by the pipe and end cap design that it will flow like crazy! I'm surprised to hear that it's lighter than the others, due to the cast aluminum ends. I always wondered if those big ends right in front of the radiator would hurt engine cooling, compared to other front mounts. I have the cooling system set up to handle the issue so I couldn't resist a new american front mount for a stock location price!

Have you ever done any comparison between it and Tony DeQuicks V-2 front mount?

Most are copies of the CAS unit.

Also, the PTE unit was $1,299 untill Tony set up next to PTE at the nationals. Harry lowered the price to $899 to compete with the V2 that might have been priced at $799.
Quite a bit of mark up to be able to lower the price by that much..

X2! I switched from a PTE front mount to a Cotton's front mount and never regretted it. Cotton's is much bigger, thicker and fits just as good as the PTE unit.

    Claude. ;)
