    You should do the cooling mods to the block/heads.

    As Billy T said I would do the cooling mods (heads, block and head gasket). Also the TA's are notorious for poor drain back of oil from the heads. I opened up the drain back holes in the head as well as the valley on top of the block (might have to modify the head gasket as well). I also used Isky solid roller lifters and a 3/8" Manton push rod (.145" wall thickness) with a .040" hole to reduce the flow of oil to the head. The 5/16" push rod did not cut it with 250 lb seat pressure.
