Should the rod caps have any side to side play in them? On mine I can wiggle then just a little bit! How do I determine where the knock is coming from? Thanks, R.B.
Yes, they must have side play. Since the pan is most likely off the engine, you will need to remove the rod caps to see if you have a bad bearing. Usually it is the upper bearing that gets hammered.
