Im in talks with a seller from another state and I was thrown off by the carpet.

The car has blue carpet, i have seen GN's with this in the past but not too often.

    Was this an option?

All the rpo codes on the trunk match up and ill post a picture of the sticker he sent me.

I have yet to get a picture of the vin tag or firewall tag but i havent asked for that yet.

I attached several pictures of the car as well.

Im waiting on more pictures before i make the trip all the way there.

    Opinions?

On second look, Mabye the carpet is just worn and the dye used with it had a blue base.
It looked alot more blue on windows picture viewer though.

my DSL connection isn't liking the huge file sizes of the pics..

but if the VIN on the dash matches the SPID in the trunk, and the SPID has the option code that says it's a GN, then it's a GN..

ok i am a some what good at this, because i was ripped off buying a fake GN. Make sure there is a RPO code in the trunk, check he paint code on the firewall under the windshield on the drivers side should be code 19. and look in every damn nook and cranny for other colored paint. If you have time run the VIN with GM media they will send you the manufacters build sheet...with codes and everything more info on www.gnttype.org/numbers/rpo.html

I don't think that's blue carpet. It could just be a weird effect from the photos. Plus some dye depletion. It does have the we2 code in the trunk. So just verify the vin on the dash matches the vin on the trunk tag.

That is definitely blue carpet! It must have been replaced for some reason. Everything else checks out though. The GN plaque on the dash did it for me.

Judging by the rust on the metal on the seats and the tendency of T tops to leak, I'd wonder if the carpet was replaced due to water damage. Why they went with blue, who knows, maybe to save a buck or two or they got it from a JY.
Better check out the floor's sheet metal to be sure it hasn't rusted through.

Assuming that it's the original motor, you can verify that the vin on the engine block matches the vin plaque.

What GNvirgin says.....as he is the expert on getting ripped off...this poor guy learned his lesson the hard way and is a now valuable source on how to spot a fake GN....I'd go with him....plus..NO Grand National came with blue carpet.....it's been replaced, probably because a leaking T-Top....or sun fade.......pull up the carpet, yes, unbolt the two seats...(only four nuts each, easy job) and remove the seats....check the floor for rust through......and check those numbers as GNvirgin says....you'll be ahead of the game. The center horn emblem should not be colored...should be all black and gray with triple Buick emblem...this is obviously a replacement or owner preference....check those numbers......there's another vin under the body, left rear frame top wheelwell, if I remember correctly, but correct me if I'm correct. I may be wrong.....I thought I was wrong one time........ but I was wrong.

I talked with the seller and he said the carpet is sun bleached. it looked really blue on one computer, but looks black on another. im getting pictures of all the vin tags/stamps today. Should be 100% after that.

the car is 6hrs from me, bone stock, has been stored indoors(not climate controlled) for around 10 yrs. I let the guy know I was working with around $6500 and he bit.
75,000 original miles(yet to be verified through carfax) I can have him send me a picture of the firewall tag before i commit to a carfax or going to look at it, but assuming the firewall tag shows code 19, is $6500 a decent price for this car?

My buddies dad worked at ASC around the time the gnx was being made up until about 6 years ago. He's kind of worried about the hems on the doors being rusty and how that could mean the rust is in more places. Here are some more pictures.
