Well hi guys , been a long time since I've been posting here about a running car. Finally got a rebuilt block in the car after spinning a crank bearing and she's not running properly. Starts up pretty fast and idles good for about 10 seconds then the idle gets ruff. Set the iac and tps twice now and have checked for vac leaks ( car has a front mount I/c I just built). I pressurized the car from the throttle body and found one small leak and fixed it. Took the car out for the first drive and it didn't like off idle throttle or boost past 5psi . After 5psi the car would feel like it was loading up and slowing down with more throttle input. Car has new plugs but the old wires (only ran them 2years before the car got put away). New fuel, set the cam sensor per gnttype, any ideas guys I'm just getting back into the car after all these years and I'm sure I have missed something or messed something up . Thanks . Also I have a old turbo link 2.1 that I need to figure out how to link to a serial to USB converter which I have had no success with on my other cars. Again thanks.
Well I did a new 02 sensor today and it runs a little better but still does not like any boost. Car kinda chugs , the gas was syphoned out and I put 5gals of new gas in. Tomorrow I will pull the plugs and see how they look, maybe a new fuel filter or a bad injector? Kinda just talking to myself but I do appreciate any input .
Checked plugs today and #6 was wet with fuel all others looked good . Going to have inj cleaned and flowed tomorrow.
Got the car running perfect today there was a bad connection from the harness to the coils cleaned it up and the car took care of what was left of the old 275 50 radial ta's at only 10 psi car feels pretty good. Once I get the engine bay cleaned up I'll post some pics.
The car ran a best of 12.59@106 back in 05 with 100 octane and 20 psi . That was with a spearco i/c mounted in the stock86/87 location minus the ported throttle body i am running now and the front mount. feels like a high 13 second car at 13 psi.ran a 13.1@101 back in the day on pump and 17 psi hoping to better that and see a 12 sec pass on pump.
