Up for sale is my 1972 BMW 2002. I have brought this car from a rarely driven extra car to daily driver status within the past few months and had fully intended for this to be a long kept vehicle, but I no longer have the space to keep the 2002. So it must go. This 2002 is very reliable; it doesn’t leak any fluids; it starts easily; drives great on the highway; great mpg in the city; and has go-kart type handling. The 2002 is very fun to drive and every time the car is driven, people give thumbs up, want to talk about the car, and even take pictures of it. This 2002 is in good condition, but as any 40 year old car it does have some very minor issues, which are listed below, and are cheap and easy to repair, or can be left as is. This 2002 is better suited as a driver’s car or track car than a concourse car. There is no structural rust on the chassis and the paintwork looks good from 5ft. This 2002 has been slightly modified with common 2002 upgrades over the years by previous owners and myself. Which make the 2002 more reliable, more powerful, handle better, safer, and easier to drive. Basics: 74,000 miles 4 speed Blue/Black California car The good: Clean underbody Virtually no rust Beautiful shock towers, no rust Clean interior New carpet Clean seats Working hazard switch Strong heat (for a 2002) No console car Aftermarket upgrades: Webber 32/36 carburetor Electronic ignition BMW 2002 Tii exhaust header & downpipe Bosal exhaust Rota RB wheels Michelin Pilot 205 tires (almost brand new, 99% life left) Bilstein shocks Lowering springs Stainless steel brake lines LED tail-lights and brake lights Recent work: All new lights at rear of car New brake: rotors, calipers, pads, and shoes Flushed brake fluid Seafoamed intake manifold & fuel system (prior to this oil change) New OEM BMW thermostat and coolant Oil and Filter New fuel line to carburetor Adjusted and cleaned carburetor The bad, Exterior: Previous owner painted the car on his own, the paint looks good from 5ft, but it is not a perfect paint job. Small rust spot at leading edge of hood. Small spot of paint bubbling at lower, front edge of doors. Trunk mis-aligned. No antenna. The bad, Other: Horn retaining ring in steering wheel not attached (no horn) Windshield wiper/Blinker stalk needs connection re-soldered for washer to operate Cracks in dashboard Exhaust rattles when idling No radio head unit (has speakers and wiring) Key stuck in passenger exterior lock 2002’s have a wide spectrum in pricing, from $3,000 cars with rusted strut towers to $30,000 turbo models. If this car had a good paint job, I would list it at $7,000. But since it is in need of a paint job, I feel that $4,500 is a fair asking price for the car. But, I am open to reasonable offers. email: whit3out@gmail.com Nick
