Stage 1 block ??

Hi , I just picked up a stage block that has the casting # of 016 and is stamped 4.1 it has 14 bolt head holes but only has 2 bolt main caps .. can any one give me info on this block.

sounds like a 4.1 stage 1 block,all nodular caps right ?

With that casting number and 2 bolt caps, this would most likely be a 4.1 Stage 1 block. Check the lifter bores. If the oil galley goes through (intersects) the lifter bore, it has production oiling and is a Stage 1.

Stage 2 used the same casting but modified the machining. The oil galley runs along side the lifter bores but does not break into the bores. Stage 2 had the oil pump pickup at #1 main bulkhead, while Stage 1 has the pickup in the stock location.

I've seen alot of odd variations in stage blocks........Post some pictures
