What are the Pros & Cons of the different rod lengths?
My shortblock is built with 6.5" rods. I have a 3.59 stroke wide journal crank. I'm wondering how different length rods would affect my build. Block is a #153 bored 4.040 with Champion 14 bolt GN1s fully ported by Champion. Does rod length have any affect on streetability or maybe shorter rods would be less prone to knock on pump gas???? I'm all ears. Any and all info is appreciated. TIA.

Clay, here's a good comparo. It uses the SBC, but the comparisons can be applied to any length rod...
I used the 6.5" rods in my engine, as they were what was in it when I bought it from a Nascar team. HTH.. Connecting Rod Length Comparison Last edited by Chuck Leeper : May 12th, 2008 at 06:39 AM. |

Thanks Chuck. That has given me more ammo to Google-Research.
